grrrrrr i dont like dumb people
idk if u guys have heard of this but i saw it on cnn.com tonight and it made me so mad that i felt compelled to inform everyone on the information super-highway about how mad i am.

theres this "minister" named fred phelps who is leading his congregation in protesting at the funerals of soldiers who have died in iraq. they hold signs saying things like "god hates your tears", "when a fag dies, god laughs" and other insults to grief, homosexuality, and america. they carry bibles, saying that the Book is their weapon.
in interviews, phelps has stated that he is protesting against homosexuality, something he considers to be an unforgivable sin. he says that soldiers are fighting for a country that supports homosexuality, and are therefore all "perverts".
these protests are have been disturbing funerals since june of last year, and are completely unacceptable. i dont care what you think about homosexuality, or iraq, but heckling the family members of the deceased is crossing the line. no matter your opinions, the grieving have the right to bury their family members in peace.
and then theres the whole religious part. the bible is not a weapon. not going into that cuz im not a bible-belter preaching my beliefs on livejournal, but if the man's a minister he should know the bible preaches redemption and forgiveness.
i am not patriotic.
i am not a homosexual.
i am not a pervert.
i do not support the war in iraq.
but i think that this is a sick misinterpretation of events, whose consequences are being taken out on people who only want to bury their family members in peace like they deserve.
kudos to peace rallies; im going to one in two weeks. but do it somewhere else, for everyones sake.
