Ok--so on Valentine's Day I made Brad's flowers and I also made two gigantic arrangements for a friend of a bride.
This friend was a buyer for Roy Houff (nationwide floral wholesaler) once upon a time. Now he's an event planner. Anyway, he was in town doing an event for the NBA jam session. He called and asked if he could drop off some flowers and have me arrange them. Sure-no big deal. Well he gave me 200 roses.
I knew it wouldn't fit in a vase and would pretty much look crappy if I did that, so after agonizing for a long time, I came up with the arrangments at the bottom of the entry:

I thought it was cool and so did he. He was staying at the Phoenician and since he had to go home the next day--the Phoenician folks got to keep my flowers and apparently went crazy for them.
That's cool enough--BUT
He called last week and asked us if we would like to fly out to LA at the end of June for an event he was doing. It had a mid-summer night's dream theme and he thought I would be perfect.
Ok cool--he also said to bring Rhiannon and we could stay in the hotel in a couple of weeks and check it all out.
He didn't say what it was--just an "event"
Well today he called us back and it's an event all right. And it's at the "W' hotel--a fancy schmancy Beverly Hills hotel.
BUT THERE'S MORE!
It's THE BET AWARDS AFTER PARTY!!! Not my kind of music BUT I actually get to attend the event as well and this planner also does P-diddy (or whatever he's calling himself these days) parties, etc. This is a test to see how well I do. I could bump into P-Diddy or even be in People freakin' magazine!
He chose me over San Francisco florists, LA florists and even New York florists. Not only is that a huge compliment but it's pretty much a slap in the face to an industry which thinks only the coasts can bring anything creative to the table.
I AM GOING TO FREAK OUT!! :)
So I get a free vacation at the end of the month and I get to meet celebrities.
Finally a break!
