Well this will cheer me up...

We semi-adopted a greyhound today.

We've been doing research on the breed for a while and saw the ones at the Renaissance Festival. We got some info. for adoption agencies and today two nice ladies from Cottonwood came down with two girls. One was a gorgeous girl named Sue.

She had been in foster so was used to homes and small dogs--however, Rhiannon made her nervous and jumpy and she lunged and snapped at Jewel, our lab mix, every chance she got.

The other dog doesn't have a name. She just came off the track Tuesday. She's never been in a house or around people. She is SKINNY and has a few wounds from racing--other greyhounds nipping her during the race, etc.

She has such good energy though that even Nate, who was super on the fence about even meeting another dog, was peetting her and teaching her to go up and down the stairs.

He's been researching her racing lineage all afternoon.

She's ours for the weekend but we still have to get permission from the rental agency. We're hopign that since we paid to have three dogs and now are down to two, they will be ok with it.

She's very skinny but so sweet. She doesn't mind Rhiannon and she follows Nate and I around everywhere. I want to just sit her down and feed her but I can't since she is basically starving from her track days (she didn't come from one of the kennels that really treats their greyhounds well and she never won a race) we can't feed her more than twice a day or she will gorge and then get really sick.

I am calling her Violet but Rhiannon swears her name is Toesie. I have no idea what that means. :)

She's very pretty.

That's her racing info. Figs is the name of the owner/kennel whatever. Her sisters and brothers are all that too. Myra is the name the rescue gave her (they give out alphabetical, random names).

She's a little skinnier than even the pictures.

So here's fingers crossed that the rental co. says "okay."
