New chapter, almost a week later.

But this time I actually enjoyed writing it.

(And I've been too lazy to post it.) *coughcough*

I've decided this story's going to be around 9 or more chapters. But that's just wishful thinking, really.

Thank you for all your comments so far; if I could I'd reach through the compy screen and give you all hugs. (^__^) <3

Random Fact: "No one comes on boats anymore, so why do we still call them 'f.o.b.s'?" (Chieko, author.)

Sakito had no idea what to think of his and Ni~Ya’s “date”. It had ended after the sun had set and Sakito couldn’t stop shivering from the cold. The two had walked back to Ni~Ya’s apartment and Sakito figured it would end up being all clichéd and the two would kiss and be together forever after that. But instead Ni~Ya’s just hugged him tightly and waved goodbye.

Sakito could live with this. Besides, he liked it better to have a one-sided crush on the other man.

The two didn’t see each other after that until well into Wednesday of the next week. Sakito had no photo shoots scheduled, so he simply stayed home, slept, and watched the Lifetime channel and lived off of instant ramen, toast, and beef jerky.

He had received an unexpected call from the photographer, asking him if he wanted to accompany him to the Project Runway building. One of Ni~Ya’s reasons for the call was because he wanted to show the model what it was like behind the camera, not in front of it, but also because he didn’t want to be along with all those strange women.

Sakito scolded him for being scared of going by himself, but decided to go with him anyway. He figured he would have to get out of the apartment sooner or later.

It was stilly chilly outside in the February air, so Sakito grabbed his suede jacket, wrapped his Burberry scarf around his neck, snatched his sunglasses and keys from the table, and headed out the door. Just for the heck of it, he wore a few light streaks of eyeshadow and mascara; he was sure Christy, the makeup artist, would get a kick out of it if she saw him.

Ni~Ya greeted him, his breath coming out in clouds in the crisp air. He wore a black jacket with fur around the hood, making his upper half look quite warm, but his legs looked like they were shivering beneath his thin jeans. The model thought his friend looked like a koala with the furry hood on, but Ni~Ya scowled and said he preferred looking like a pimp Eskimo instead.

Sakito thought there would be a sort of awkwardness between him and Ni~Ya after the date, but there wasn’t a hint of a gap anywhere to be felt. In fact, Ni~Ya seemed even more attached to him now, calling him “Saki-kun” and linking his arm with his. Sakito was relieved and glad for the new closeness, but still resolved to keep his feelings secret.

Everyone once in a while Ni~Ya would stop and point and squeal at an empty spot and shoo Sakito over to it, making him pose. (“You’re a model, isn’t that what you’re supposed to do?”) Sakito would shake his head and refuse, but eventually gave in every time to Ni~Ya’s constant pleading.

“Tilt your head a little to the left and towards me, good. Relax, stop fiddling with your hands, just place them one your hips or something,” Ni~Ya commanded as he held his digital camera to his eye; he may use a professional camera while in the studio, but out in public a regular digital camera suited him just fine.

Sakito made a whining noise, tired of all the photos Ni~Ya wanted. He could understand Ni~Ya’s obsession with photography, after all he worked with cameras all the time, but maybe he could use some of the New Yorkers walking around and not just him. He looked towards the camera lens, a confident look over all his features- a second nature he gained whenever he posed for photos. He placed his hands on his hips as he stood in front of the iron gate separating the sidewalk and the park grass behind it. Park trees and bushes and a few ducks walking on the lawn added to the simple, yet beautiful, nature in the background. The sun was shining faintly through the white clouds scattered about the blue sky; the brown-red dye Sakito had used in his hair was starting to fade and the sun only made it look lighter.

He heard the camera make a sound signaling that it had taken the picture, and Ni~Ya straightened up and smiled at Sakito.

“Thanks, Saki-kun! We should hurry now, don’t wanna be late,” the dark-haired man said as Sakito stepped off of the gate ledge and back onto the sidewalk. The two continued to walk towards the company building.

Sakito had done enough photo shoots to know what it took to get the models all good and ready for pictures, but he never knew what went on “behind the scenes” to get the camera equipment ready.

The model watched with interest as Ni~Ya walked around the set, making sure the lighting was just so, moving the backdrop a quarter of an inch to the left, moving it back to the right again, suggesting the crew adjust the lights some more- it seemed like such a big job to Sakito.

The backdrop this time featured a large summer home with balconies and tall windows settled nicely in a lawn of lush, green, perfectly kept grass. A green carpet had been placed at the edge of the backdrop to make it look like the grass kept going on. A white iron table had been set up, the surface made up of curly, wired designs; matching chairs, four in all, went with it perfectly. A glass pitcher with iced tea and tall, plain glasses had been placed upon the table, and Sakito noticed a few of the studio hands eyeing the iced tea with particular interest.

And for the first time Sakito noticed two children running around the studio. No one seemed to be paying them any mind, and vice versa. Both were girls, once appearing to be around 9 with chestnut hair, the smaller one about 5 with dirty blonde hair, each head filled with curls. They wore simple white dresses with a plain colored sash tied around their middle, strappy sandals on their tiny feet.

Sakito could not figure out for the life of him who the children belonged to; he was pretty sure none of the models were married, yet alone had any children, and he was pretty sure himself that they weren’t his children.

Just then the studio door opened and in walked Julie, trying her best to hide her face in her hands. The slim blonde’s hair had been curled as well, though not as much as the little girls’. A knee-length white and blue-checkered dress swished as she walked, her curls bouncing as she moved. Sakito thought she looked like a housewife.

“Julrie,” Ni~Ya smiled as she walked over to the set. Julie only seemed to attempt to hide her face even more.

“Dear Lord, I look like a Stepford wife,” Julie mumbled, her words muffled by her hands. “I can’t believe I was chosen for this shoot. I want out,” she moaned.

“You look cute,” Sakito tried to comfort her. She gasped and looked up, eyes widening when she saw him.

“Sakito! You’re here too? Oh God, now everyone knows I look like this and will laugh at me!” she whined as she rung her hands. Her thin face had been brushed with blush and powder to make her tanned skin look paler, her hazel eyes accented with blue eyeshadow and brown liner. Sakito felt sorry to see her in such a pitiful state; usually she was so happy and bouncy that seeing her like this was almost like seeing someone completely new.

“There there, it alright,” Sakito cooed as he stroked her bony shoulder. Julie was one of the few models who stood at 5’8” at the company and didn’t have to look down to see him.

“Miss Julrie, you look fine. And someone get girls,” Ni~Ya instructed to one of the studio workers who went after the two little forms, shrieking and running away from their captor.

“Who are they?” Sakito questioned.

“Their names are Sheila and Kelly; Smith wanted them to be in the shoot. He thought they would look perfect in these new “homestyle” dresses he’s trying to sell,” Julie explained, watching with amusement as the studio worker continued to chase after the little girls.

Suddenly the studio door opened again and in walked a tall, proud figure.

“Mommy!” the girls squealed and ran towards Claudia, who smiled and bent down to kiss them on top their heads.

Claudia was one of the more experience figures at the company, a self-proclaimed “super model”, and she held an air that radiated haughtiness. She had sleek black hair, cut squarely above her thin eyebrows, sharp cheekbones, and full lips. Rumors said that she went around messing with the staff, and even Smith so he would give her more shoots; after all, more shoots meant more money.

The little girls chattered away idly as they held onto her hands as she walked towards the set. She glared at Ni~Ya and Julie, who gladly returned her look.

Sakito was confused now. Had they just called her “mommy”? “Ee, wait, they your children?” he asked.

Claudia turned to look at him and spoke with a boastful tone, “Yes, they are my little angels. Smith agreed to let them be in the photo shoot.” She smirked. Behind her back Julie made rude hand gestures and faces; no one really liked her all that much, and she liked none of the other models either.

“Sheila was from my first pregnancy, right out of high school,” Claudia said as she stroked the chestnut girl’s hair. “And Kelly is from my second pregnancy a few years later. I’m pretty close to finding out who her father is by now,” she said, motioning to the little blond girl. Both little girls smiled and waved at Sakito, who hesitantly waved back.

Apparently the rumors of Claudia going around and sleeping with everyone were true. He would never doubt Loretta or Emily again.

Claudia spoke again, but this time to Ni~Ya,” You better take good care of them. Or else. If I find out you touched them, messed up their photos, anything, you’ll deeply regret it. Understand?"

Ni~Ya glared daggers at her but nodded. He hated working with her; she was a total bitch.

“Good,” she sniffed. She turned to her two girls again and smiled at them, kissed them goodbye and waved as she left the studio.

Everyone was silent after that, not quite sure what to say. Finally Julie suggested that they start, and everyone moved to their places.

Julie sat in one of the iron chairs, Sheila and Kelly across from her. Ni~Ya started snapping away with his camera, every once in a while switching lenses. He got close ups of the blonde model, her eyes and hair shining perfectly in the overhead light. He got close ups of the children as well, but seemed to be doing his best to hide a look of disgust as he took their pictures. Finally he got shots of them drinking the iced tea, paying as much attention to Julie and less to the girls as he could.

Sakito admired the way Ni~Ya worked. He seemed to float to each spot and appeared to get the perfect shot every time. He didn’t appreciate how hard all the photographers and studio staffed worked until now; he would have to remember to say thank you to them next time he worked.

But Sakito found it a little awkward as he watched Julie pose for pictures. Julie did everything she was told and not once protested to any thing. Did he move around and act like a doll during shoots too?

He was so deep into his own thoughts that he didn’t realize when Ni~Ya announced that they were done and everyone started moving around. Sakito blinked, and moved towards Ni~Ya but stopped when Sheila and Kelly appeared in front of them.

“Uh, hi,” he said lamely as he looked down into the round faces of the children, still not believing that they had such a whoreslut for a mother.

“You’re pretty, are you a model too?” Sheila asked.

“Pretty, pretty!” Kelly giggled as she clapped her small hands.

“Yes, I model too,” Sakito tried to smile.

“Mommy says this company only like pretty models. She said that there was a boy working here. If he works here then he must be pretty too. Do you know who he is?” Sheila said in her cutesy little voice.

Sakito thought over her words for a moment. A boy working here? There was only one other male model in the company, could they be talking about that guy- oh, wait. They were talking about him. He was the pretty boy working here. Apparently the two little girls had thought he was a girl.

“Um, I know him. His name Sakito,” Sakito said, forcing a smile. Sheila suddenly started giggling, Kelly copying her.

“Saykito? That’s a funny name for a boy. What’s your name, lady?” Sheila asked between bouts of giggles.

Sakito opened his mouth to speak but was cut off when Ni~Ya stepped in between him and the girls.

“Back off, brats,” he hissed as he wound an arm around the model’s thin waist. Sakito, Sheila, and Kelly all stared at him with wide eyes and open mouths.

“C’mon, Saki-kun,” Ni~Ya growled as he dragged his friend over to a secluded corner, leaving the girls to go bother someone else.

“Ni~Ya-kun? What was that all about?” asked Sakito, giving Ni~Ya a stern look.

“Those little girls belong to that whoreslut Claudia, and I don’t like her at all. And since they’re her children, I don’t like them very much either.”

“So you decided you’re just going to be mean to them simply because you don’t like their mother? That’s not nice. And why did you drag me away from them?”

“Like I said before, I’m not good at sharing things, like friends, and I don’t like it when others get too close to them. Especially people I don’t like.”

“There’s no need to get all possessive simply because of children, Ni~Ya,” Sakito scolded.

“So would you rather me not be possessive over things I care about then?” Ni~Ya suddenly whispered as he stepped closer to Sakito. The model was taken aback by the sudden closeness and felt his breath hitch as he stared up into the photographer’s dark eyes.

“You’re so pretty, Saki-kun. I’m sure the other photographers are jealous that they don’t have such a pretty model to work with,” Ni~Ya said fondly as he raised a large hand and stroked Sakito’s cheek. Sakito sighed and leaned into the touch, his eyes fluttering close for a moment before opening again. He stared in the dark orbs in front of him before he slowly leaned forward and pressed his lips to the dark-haired man’s without a second thought.

The kiss was soft and sweet and Sakito pulled away all too quickly. He looked up at Ni~Ya, hand still against his cheek. He felt like he had done the right thing and was not the least bit embarrassed about it.

“So I guess our date did mean something then,” Ni~Ya chuckled softly. Sakito took a deep breath- it was now or never.

“I’ve liked you for a long time,” Sakito confessed. He was ready to pour out his feelings now. Here in New York. Inside a modeling company. In a corner.

“Why didn’t you ever tell me?”

“Not everyone’s as forward as you, Ni~Ya-kun. Would you have told me that you liked me?”

“If you had asked, then of course I would have,” Ni~Ya grinned. Sakito couldn’t help but smile at him fondly. His worst fears had been put to rest: Ni~Ya did like him back as well.

Sakito leaned in for another kiss and this time Ni~Ya leaned in as well, their lips meeting softly again, lingering just a little bit longer.

They pulled away when they heard squeals.

“Eww, grown-ups kissing!” Sheila giggled as she made faces at them.

“Ew, ew,” Kelly shrieked.

This time Sakito blushed, embarrassed that of all the people who had to catch them, it was two little girls who still thought that love and kissing were icky and would go around telling everybody.

Ni~Ya growled. “Why you little-“ he hissed as he ran towards the two, who squealed some more and ran away as fast as they could. Ni~Ya chased them all around the room, purposefully slowing down so he wouldn’t catch them. Sakito watched his friend… boyfriend? He didn’t know. He would think about it later. But now he just laughed and laughed while Ni~Ya continued to run after the little girls, laughter coming from his mouth as well.

End ch. 4

When they kissed I was like "Finally!!!" XD Oh, the places their relationship will go. Har har.

Ni~Ya really does like the little girls; he just doesn't like their mother. But then again, who would?

Someday, I'll find out how photo shoots REALLY work. Promise.

And I also promise that the next chapter is coming soon. ♥
