With this topic I could go on and on and on... the fact is, I enjoyed scanlations in tons a few years back, now that the internet has grown and things like Twitter and Facebook exists and companies are more in contact with technologies, everything has changed. One would think "Oh that's great, it means we'll get to see more". Well, NO. It's taken a turn for the worse. Great scanlations groups have been shut down, and terror amongst readers has grown. I understand the point of view of publishers but... one would expect that if they're gonna act in a certain way, they'll have a huge plan of action to compensate. But they don't. This is where i'm extremely disappointed with.
Is the future of yaoi manga, of this beautiful genre, to die? To just fade out and be forgotten? Now that society is getting over stupid taboos and prejudices and we could enjoy plenty, this shit comes around. Copyright laws are outdated, everyone knows that, and believe me I know how artists feel, I know it. Because some of my closest friends are comic artists, artists who are hoping to make a living out of this industry. But the fact is... not to just go into a whiplash like this and finish all the sharing, but evolve. Evolve into something that can work for every party in the equation.
It's gotten so frustrating, when it used to be so fun, to share and see. Now, the simplest sharing has turned so hard and it always feels like persecution. It's so sad. My feelings over this matter cannot be put simply, and I just hope for... "clearer skies", in which I can see half of the good stuff I used to see before, and not be shut down, turn down and so when I'm trying to enjoy the stuff I like. I mean, dude... I'm all in for the sharing too, I bust my ass for it. I support the artists and the community with my contribution!! Do some of the same yourselves!!
Anyway, on the other hand of it, I've been turning my head to an interesting alternative: Original English Language BL/Yaoi. Yeah, a pretty neglected market that need to be exploded. There's a bunch of talented artists out there, who are English speakers and doing manga, manga that is of excellent quality and super juicy! I'd love to see more of these artists getting published and appreciated!!! A lof of them are doing some self-publishing but I bet they would do so much better with some exposure. So my next post goes to that, and if any of the friends on my list still read the shit I write, I'll be happy to hear if you know from any OEL BL/Yaoi publications that can be shared and of course supported!!
Might you all have a nice day, my friends!!! C:
