So, quite a bit has happened since I posted my last rambly post.
I went to my first week of placement at Keswick High and had an absolute blast! The first day I mostly felt like I was in the way. But by the last day I realized that these were some amazing kids and that they are capable of so much when they are pushed and inspired by their teacher. Likewise, I realized that if they are bored WATCH OUT! It was great though. And my Associate Teacher (or my supervisor) is fantastic. She is a bit more relaxed in her classroom management than I would be... but I'm here to observe her style right.
Secondly, I started me first official week of teacher college (although we've been yelled at for calling it that because apparently it belittles my accomplishment of being one of 825 who got in amongst 5100 applicants :P). It's very overwhelming. I think in total I have 12 different classes. Some of them happen twice a week and some are twice a semester. It's going to be interesting trying to keep track. I love what we are learning though. I find (most of) the teachers very inspiring. Everyone at Nip has to have actually taught in a school of they want to teach us. We get to benefit from their years of experience. The only bummer is Mr. Szackacs my history teacher. He is about 70 and seems to be mostly deaf in one ear. This could all be excusable if he were still an inspired teacher... but this appears to not be the case. I have him for Intermediate and Senior English and I have to do two of the very same assignment and hand them in on the same day for different classes. It's going to be a long haul.... in history of all things.
Lastly, I just wanted to say thank you for all the birthday wishes. Some of them were greatly inspired including birthday pandas and muffins left in my locker. I spent Thursday night alone, finishing my 23 page Observation report and Survivor (which hooked my attention despite the ratings). But last night and my girls and I had a party. It started off with a really nice supper, a little hanging while getting ready at Bri's and then at Kelly's. But I do have to say that the trip to the Wall (our campus bar) was not the greatest. People were being so rude that they quiet literally knocked over our friend Tammy who uses two arm braces to walk. Then I lost Briana, after being warned by her Don to stay together at all times. I was drunk and frantic and finally had the sense to go and find someone who could make better decisions than me.... my little but awesome friend Tanya. We walked back to the residence and found Bri sprawled on her bed sick as a dog. Not from the alcohol but from food poisoning we think. So there were some tears and some laughs and a few too many drinks (which definitely won't be happening for awhile. I hated being in that state and having to deal with a problem).
So overall, a good couple of weeks. Some upsetting things to do with my birthday but we'll just put it this way; birthdays always truly show you who is willing to take time out of their, sometimes, extraordinarily busy schedule to acknowledge your life. I have awesome people in my life and am very grateful to them. That's it for now but I promise I'll be back soon.
