So I learned this in my Speech class and I found it pretty interesting and VERY true. I guess this is why silence can damage relationships above any other type of abuse. I paraphrased this from the lecture so I apologize if it isn't clear.
"Being willing to enter into conflict/debate/discussion and come to a decision shows that care about someone, whereas withdrawing is the most aggressive action you can take. Refusing to enter into conflict with a person is like saying that their thoughts/feelings/ideas are invalid and unimportant. It is the ultimate expression of indifference."
