Since I haven't posted in two weeks, here's some self-indulgence to fill up the space until I have more time to post actual ideas/words/things of substance.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
-A few things that I'd rather not post publicly on the Internet.
-Moved out of the house I'd lived in (for the most part) for six years.
-Got my first apartment.
-Experienced how much it sucks to live in a dorm.
2. Did you keep your New Year’s Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I'm not even sure what my New Year's Resolution was. I remember that I made one for the first time in years, but clearly it wasn't of much importance. It was probably something dumb, like "loose moar weight". And I made more for this year, but those are secret.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No sir!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
A kid I knew growing up died in a car crash, but I hadn't spoken to him in years. Regardless, it was pretty fucking unbelievable. And pretty fucking sad.
5. What countries did you visit?
I didn't leave the country.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Space to breathe.
7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory?
-New Year's Day being stranded in Smithfield because Nick's car wouldn't start.
-Painting the giant mushroom for Rosa's play with Gemma.
-Trips with Gemma.
-Singing Yellow Submarine on Phoebe's front steps.
-Climbing Mt. Holyoke in a ridiculous skirt.
-Momma Cat saying "You guys are so busted!"
-Prom.
-Moving to Boston.
-The summer in general.
-Canary tattoo.
-Gay class.
-Thanksgiving break.
-Sledding on Christmas.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Some major gains in self-acceptance and realizing that I'm not a horrible person. Conquering a few really deeply-rooted problems.
9. What was your biggest failure?
The last half of the semester I backtracked a lot on some progress I had made and fucked up a lot of things, but I'm gaining that back.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Every day, man.
Although 2009 shall forever be remembered as The Year of Multiple Major Infections Occurring Simultaneously.
11. What was the best thing someone bought you?
Harold!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Everyone's. Legit everyone's. In some way or another.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
No one's anymore than usual, no one was exceptionally disappointing. Most of the time people were completely wonderful. There were a few instances of "Really, really? Did you just do that? That was pretty upsetting." But for the most part, that wasn't too common.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent/billz/tattoo.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Pretty much everything I ever did that had even the slightest potential to be enjoyable.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
Jesus Christ, I made an entire playlist about this, but it's 183 songs, so I'll just post the fifteen most played.
Samson - Regina Spektor
Poke - Frightened Rabbit
Passing Afternoon - Iron & Wine
Hoppípolla - Sigur Rós
Heartbeats - Jose González

Friendboats - Mariee Sioux
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier.
b) fatter or skinner? I can't look at the world as Fat or Skinny anymore.
c) richer or poorer? Poorer. Happens.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Making art!
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Wasting time on the Internet. Oh, hey...

Bones? Weeds? Gossip Girl? (Shh, don't tell.)
22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year
No?
23. What was the best book you read?
Words Overflown by Stars

The Time Traveler's Wife (Not gonna lie, I'm not a fan of super-hyped books, but this was wicked good in the concept of time that it introduces.)
24. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Middle East!
25. What did you want and get?
I don't remember much of what I wanted and I don't remember if I got it, but I know I'm happy right now, so it works out.
OH! WAIT! Obv. I really, really, really, really wanted/needed to move out of my old house. That happened with super-successful results.
26. What did you want and not get?
Not exactly sure, but I doubt any of it would have been good for me anyways.
27. What was your favorite film of this year?
I don't really remember seeing any that came out in 2009 that I really liked, but I watched Kids and The Dreamers over the summer and both of them seriously blew my mind.
28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned eighteen! Rob and I took the train to Franklin and then we went to Momma Cat's house and cooked dinner with Nick and ate vegan cheesecake. Then Momma Cat and I went to my grandparents and then to the movies.
29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More productivity, less stressing.
30. What kept you sane?
Gemma, astrology, books, unlimited access to paper and pens when I most needed it, tamertigerlionlion, anything heart-shaped.
31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
No thanks.
32. What political issue stirred you the most?

Kale. Always.
And Momma Cat's vegan cheesecake!
And the giant tub of animal crackers that I survived off of all summer.
36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009?
It's more of a two-part lesson:
a) Be fully honest with yourself.
b) Hiding something doesn't make it go away.
