i think the idea of letting go relates to what you feel you want to hold on to, and why, and discerning the space you have and the natural harmony or lack thereof of things you want to hold on to, and working that out. you only let go of things if they either get in the way of things you want to hold on to that are more important, or if there isn't room for them with all the things you have to worry about holding on to.
