Let's hear it for boredom and a laptop. Thus you get a fairly complete update.

Left Masuda, didn’t realize how fast the time was passing and got to the bus stop with only a couple minutes to spare. Ago-san (my supervisor) was the only one to see me off. I said goodbye to the other ALT’s throughout the day or before they left. As the bus pulled away from the station I teared up, didn’t actually cry but I am mourning what I have left behind, the end of a very important time in my life.

新宿
The bus arrived a little before eight this morning and I promptly stuck all my bags into a locker. Then I found a place to sit down in order to figure out what I was going to do that day, then called my Mom, and then found a place for lunch. I wandered Shinjuku a little bit, went to the post office and send some money home, and I went to the Municipal Government Buildings. Then went looking for the hostel, only got a little lost. I had a scare when I noticed my bag’s zipper had unzipped a bit and there was an opening just big enough for my jewelry bag to fall out. Also, I couldn’t see my jewelry bag. Generally I pack it on top so I don’t crush the fragile pieces. This lead to panic, as I was looking for the hostel with all my stuff, I didn’t know how long the bag had been opened (I walked a bit and had taken a subway), and I didn’t want to unpack everything on the side of the sidewalk. So after realizing I was lost, going back to the start point (scanning the ground as I walked), and then finally finding the hostel, I unpacked my bag. Thank goodness it was there. It’s not so much the monetary value of jewelry that I was so upset about losing, but all the memories that are connected to them. I have a necklace from England, earings from a Renaissance festival, my charm braclet with all the charms from countries I’ve been to, things like that. So I shall be more careful from now on. Also, I was thinking about buying a new backpack, get one a little bit bigger and better made. The one I have now, the seams are coming undone. It was only 1000 yen, a little less then ten dollars. I think it is now very likely that I’ll get a new one.
