1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better. If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate!
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Interview from semper_fi_house:

1. Why did you become friends with my son, and why and how have you continued to put up with him for so long?
I suppose I became friends with House because... Well, actually, I'm not sure I know. He started off treating me just like he treats everybody else. Only, instead of being shocked and spluttering like an idiot or getting offended and running to Cuddy like most people do, I'd either act like I thought he was the idiot or I'd shoot a smart-ass comment back at him. I guess that kept him from getting bored with me so he started hanging around me more often. I got used to it and eventually it developed into our weird friendship. And I think "I got used to it" covers the why and how of putting up with him for as long as I have.

2. What's the problem with you and marriage? What happened with your ex-wives? There were three, right? Or did Greg make that up?
No, he didn't make it up. Three is the right number. The first time it was my fault. I cheated and when I admitted it to her, that was the end of it. She wasn't going to put up with any crap. I'd be lying if I said I didn't sort of admire her for it. My second wife was actually who I cheated on the first one with. That marriage lasted longer than the first one but still ended up falling apart. It was House's fault this time my fault again. I guess I started putting other things first. She put up with it for a long time but eventually she lost patience. And the third one... Well, I guess that was my fault, too. It was the priorities thing again. She was feeling ... neglected was the term she used, so she found the attention she needed by cheating on me and that brought marriage number three to an end. Karma's a bitch.

3. Why'd you want to become a doctor? And why oncology?
I've always been a caretaker ever since I was a little kid, so when my parents started talking about how I was going to be a doctor some day, I really never even thought twice about it. It sort of appealed to me so I figured if it would make my parents happy, I might as well go for it. It just so happened that when I got into the program, I discovered I actually loved it. As for why I picked oncology... I found I had a particular talent for comforting and consoling people. I'm good at breaking bad news and cancer patients and their families really benefit from doctors who have that talent. Not to mention, it seems like breathing causes cancer and if people live long enough they all get it. So oncologists are pretty useful. I like to be useful.

4. Tell me about your father. And your mother too, if you like.
Pretty broad question. I'm not sure where to start. Hm. Well, my dad's a pretty nice guy, for a lawyer. He's worked in Toms River at the Ocean County DA's office for my whole life. He's got a quick mind but he keeps his mouth shut, mostly. When I was a kid he was always strict but fair with punishments. So our relationship has always been good even though we've never been pals or anything. Mom was a concert violinist with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra before I was born, and then she decided to stay home and do the mom thing. She kept giving private violin lessons, though, to keep herself occupied. She likes to feed and teach people, and sing at the top of her lungs and intentionally off-key, and she's always been all about affection. She's a little bit loud and she's funny as hell. She actually likes House and I think he sort of enjoys her, too -- something about a Jewish mother who gives her eldest son the initials JEW appeals to him, I think.

5. Did you play any sports as a kid?
Baseball. My parents signed me up for tee ball when I was five or so. I played that and then Little League until ninth grade when I started playing shortstop for my high school team. I also ran track in high school (various sprints and relays, and long jump) but baseball was my focus. It's still my favorite sport.

Interview from lovely_damage:

1. Why did you pick oncology?
Lots of skinny girls. (No, not seriously. I gave the real answer to semper_fi_house already.)

2. What do you do when you're not at work?
Anything to keep my mind from drifting back to work. I used to keep a boat near my parents' place in Mantoloking but I got rid of that during my second divorce so no more boating for me. Now mostly I read, watch TV and movies and try to sleep in my spare time.

3. Do you have a different tie for each day of the week?
I could probably go a whole month without wearing the same tie twice. People are always giving me ties. I tend to stick to the same few, though. It's safer that way; I'm colorblind.

4. Okay, I'm curious. What's your opinion of me?
In what capacity? I mean... If you're looking for my general overall opinion, it's a positive one. I'd say that should be obvious since we're friends but...

5. So, about that thing that happened in your office. Any thoughts? Anything you'd like to share? Seriously, how long have you been thinking about something like that happening?
Nothing I'd like to share in public. Hah. And all I'm going to say about how long it's been on my mind is ... I'm not blind and I'm not stupid. Make of that what you will.
