New Obsession

Once again Last Fm (in my opinion one of the greatest specific product inventions of the Internet) has introduced me to a great new indie band:
The Dø. They're French, they're eclectic and they're pure joys.

According to Wikipedia:

The Dø is a French rock duo formed by musician and soundtrack composer Dan Levy and French/Finnish singer Olivia Bouyssou Merilahti.

Their early songs include At Last !, The Bridge is Broken, Playground Hustle and On My Shoulders. All feature on their debut album A Mouthful. The Dø is known to incorporate a great range of instruments in their songs, as well as being a duet completing each other member, Merilahti bringing the melody, and Levy the symphonic or jazzy structure. Most of the lyrics are written in English, the rest being in Finnish.
The Dø in the band's name is pronounced the same as the English word "dough," with a long "o" sound. The band's name is presumably derived from the first sound of the C scale Solfege (Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Si-Do). Dan said in an interview on French TV that the name of the band is formed with the initials of their names (Dan & Olivia). The letter Ø (slashed o) is used in Danish, Faroese and Norwegian to represent the sound [ø] close to the vowel in english "hurt". The word "dø" in Scandinavian means "die".

If you are going to give them a look see (which I strongly suggest) I suggest starting with 'On My Shoulders'.
