What a day!
Not having such a great day. I'm not depressed or mad or anything, but things just keep going wrong!
So I wake up this morning and its NEGATIVE 5 degrees outside! Freaking freezing. I normally walk 5 blocks to work and although that doesn't sound like much, in this frigid weather, its enough to numb my toes before getting to work. I have access to a vehicle, but my company won't pay for each of us to have a car, so we have to share. So I call the girl with the car keys, knowing she has to take her son to pre-school every morning to see if I could get a ride. I was even going to offer to pay the $12 parking charge just to save my limbs from potential frost-bite. She didn't answer when I called and didn't try calling me back until she was already on her way to taking her son to school. She said she'd be back in 20 minutes and I could have the car then, but that she planned on walking. I told her nevermind, I'll just try to brave this crazy cold and walk to work. I did, and I froze. (And yes, I was bundled up in a nice enough winter coat, thinsulated gloves, had the hood of my coat pulled up, my earphones (instead of earmuffs, I usually listen to my ipod, but had forgotten to plug it in after I had charged it all night) and a nice thick scarf. Even so, after about 10 minutes in the building I finally started feeling my toes again. Apparently, I need to work on getting my boots out here because my tennis shoes just aren't cutting it in the cold.
So next, I spilled part of my omelette on my nice new outfit's blouse. Tried to clean it up with water to no avail, the stain is still there and now I have a water mark from the clean up attempt. (Apparently, its not good to get water on a satin-like material.)
I'm ready to start work, so I pull out the ipod and headphones to start jamming and get to work. My damn ipod won't turn on. I was sleeping but my neighbor/car partner/co-worker/friend (denice)told me the power went off last night for about an hour. I'm guessing my ipod got surged & fried as a result. So I borrow a co-workers power cable for the ipod to see if it'll work after a charge. Nothing. Its dead. Kaput. Ughh. I haven't even had a chance to call Apple, but I'm guessing they're going to take it away from me for a couple months to get it fixed. Blah! My lifestyle now demands that I have an ipod! I constantly listen to that thing... on the walk into and home from work, AT work (the people in this office are VERY loud, so my only sense of sanity comes when I can put the headphones on and block them out), waiting for the plane, ON the plane and even sometimes in the car with my adapter. I might have to just buy a new one while this one gets fixed. Yes, I'm THAT spoiled and addicted to this little white-boxed-music-holder.
So then, I try to update a document and it won't save. Had to get help for that. Found out how to do it and now I have to train my co-workers. So I went up to help (denice) save her document and in the meantime, her nose starts bleeding. She freaks out because she's never had one before. I told her it surprised me that more of us haven't had nose bleeds sooner than now because of this dry weather. So, I took care of her and gave her the nose-bleed instruction.
Came back down to my desk to retrieve a phone call from the property manager of the condo my company is leasing for me to stay in during my project here in Denver. She's furious because the rent has been late for 3 months in a row, she hasn't received the rent for December, she's tried to contacy my company and was treated rudely, so she said she's forced to issue a 3-day notice. Uhmmm..........WHAT IS THAT? does that mean I'm getting thrown out of my condo? I'm due to come back to Atlanta tomorrow evening and I don't have near enough time to get all my stuff out of there, so I sure hope that doesn't happen. So I tried to call this lady back 3 times...no answer, no voice mail. Tried to call our finance person in charge for the payments. Both office, cell and email. No response 2 hours later. Sure hope I have a place to stay when I get back here on Monday night!

Oh wait... a good thing! My project manager (who I don't really "gel" with) is being replaced as of 1/1/06. The new guy wants to take us on a "team building" for 4 days. Our choices are: Denver, Charlotte, Phoenix or Las Vegas. Hmmm... which one do you think I picked??? WOOHOOO!! I hope to get to go back to Vegas in January! and for FREEEEEEEEE We're still voting about it, but the majority that have already voted have said Vegas. Wheeeeeee. Okay, I feel better now.
