Here I am in NYC. Keith
zudensternen and I came here to see Christo's & Jeanne-Claude's "The Gates" in Central Park. We walked about there this afternoon and took pictures. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it; I usually think Modern Art is pretentious bovinepoopy. This was really beautiful, and there were lots of wandering, um, curators? who would answer people's questions and even give you a small square of the fabric: "They're not orange! The gates are saffron, the color of happiness, joy, and the renewal of spring." The regular people wandering about the park were friendly, too (for city-dwellers, anyway), with strangers talking together and people taking pictures for others so their whole group could be in the shot.
Gates in a windy moment
A minor homage to Christo and Jeanne-Claude (my favorite fruit)
Gates reflected in an icy pond
Clementines and a blue scarf (complementary color to saffron)
Pamelina and still life
Sun through saffron
