She'd had the ring hidden in their room for almost a week now. She had no idea what had possessed her when she asked Jon for her engagement ring back, but last weekend, when she ran into him, she'd asked for it. Of course he'd given it back without question, but she couldn't help wondering just what the hell she was going to do with it now.

It meant nothing to her, of course, so that wasn't the problem. She just.. didn't want to keep it around anymore and if Jon just kept it, well, it would still be around and she just.. didn't want it anymore.

So, she'd waited almost a week, going back and forth between options. She could bury it somewhere off the path or she could find someone to maybe take the small diamond off and melt the gold down for something else for someone else or she could just throw it into the ocean and hope it never washed back onto the shore.

Ultimately, she decided that throwing it in the ocean was her best bet and her worst bet. Throwing it in the ocean meant it was highly likely that it washed back onto shore, but it was also highly likely that, if she threw it out far enough, it would sink to the bottom of the ocean and she'd never see it again. Besides, she didn't really like the other options she'd come up with.

She walked down to the beach and wandered along the water line until she came to a stretch of sand that was rather unoccupied, but still close to the path. Just in case. She sat in the sand for a long while, turning the ring over in her palm and sliding it over her fingers before she curled her hand into a fist around it and stood up.

She glanced around slowly before heading down to the water. She stopped just as the water started to lick her bare feet, opening her fist in front of her and staring down at her ring. She looked down at herself, then out to the water, then down at herself again. Carefully, she started to wade out into the water. She didn't stop until the water reached her hips, the waves gently crashing against her belly as she held her hand high enough above the water to keep it from getting wet.

Just as she was about to toss the ring into water when she heard someone call her name. She turned towards the sound and realized her cheeks were damp, quickly writing it off as spray from the ocean waves even though it was obviously not true.

[ooc: for those of you I emailed, tag your pups on in. she's throwing away her old engagement ring.]
