Well, Jimmy is continuing to wake up early... Today it was 3:30 in the am. We left him in the crib, but he tries to climb out now, so really we have to be in there with him. Tom and I took turns. I really don't understand how that's enough sleep... He'll lay down, and even yawn, but jumps up and starts screaming again as soon as we get our hopes up. He's started napping longer, but I'm waking him up after two hours now, so it doesn't cut into nighttime sleep. I feel like I've tried everything... Going to bed really early, going to bed late... Ugh. I'm going to sleep now as soon as I can after he does, but I still feel like I'm not getting enough sleep, even when Tom is helping. So frustrating!!!
In all other ways, he seems to be fine. He's usually happy, his appetite is light but within the normal range, and he eats a decent variety of food, although he definitely has a preference for starches. He still loves his puzzles and trains and books, and is getting more and more capable at the playground. Yesterday he was going down some very steep big kids slides! He wants to be one of the big kids so bad... He follows them around, but the only thing he really knows how to say is "hi!". I've been drilling him on "My name is Jimmy" and "Let's play this", but so far he hasnt put it together.
I think we've picked a preschool for him next year - Groton Community School. It's really a toddler class, since he misses the cut off by one month, but he seems ready, and really wants to make friends with the big kids, so I figure we'll give it a try. The only problem is that it's kind of expensive - not like the Montesorri or Waldorf schools, though! There's one other school in Ayer I haven't looked at, that I've heard good things about, I have an appt there this month, but they don't have an opening until June of next year. It seems like he's growing up so fast!
