Tom traveling; Weaning

Jan 19, 2012 21:56

Well, Jimmy now knows how to say, "business trip", "Daddy on a airplane", "Conference", "talking about computers", and "Daddy work computers".  We called Daddy tonight to say night night, and when we got voice mail, I told Jimmy Daddy must still be on a plane.  I told him to say night night, and he said, "Night night Daddy on a plane."  It was so unexpected an cute!

That being said, he has been quite upset by all this travel, and very whiny and clingy.  I thought we might try weaning for his nap, now that he's finally sleeping through the night, but he is soooooo not having it.  I think it's partly due to Daddy not being around.  Jimmy really wasn't happy with me the last two days when I tried to shorten the amount of nursing at nap time, and has been very unhappy and crying a lot, and today I saw him walking around the house today, holding tightly to his sippy cup, and moaning to himself, "Mommy muh..." Muh being his word for milk, one of his few baby words he has left.  I felt so bad.  I think he's just too worked up for it with Daddy being gone.  Tom's last trip is in February, so I think we will try it again after that.  I had thought he might be ready to drop another nursing given how easily he took skipping nursing when I was sick, but I guess not.  Well, two weeks isn't that long to wait, and maybe I can do more research in the mean time.  Jamie suggested putting a bandaid on my nipple and saying it was "owie", given how ok he was when I was sick.  But maybe it's just that bedtime would be a better time to skip... he's already stopped falling asleep during nursing, and reduced duration there on his own.  He happily goes in the crib and goes to sleep that way.  Well, we've got some time to think about it, at least!

Starting to visit preschools now, maybe for the fall...  I hope they aren't too expensive!
