Jimmy's imagination is really developing! It's so cute. The other day he was pretending to take food out of an empty container and feed it to his daddy and me. So cute! He also makes his little cars go "beep beep" now! I think imagination is my favorite development, besides maybe him using more words.
So.... sleep. We tried the "silent return" technique, and it was just awful. 3 hours and 250 returns to bed later, he finally fell back asleep, only to wake up 45 minutes later. Tom and I were so tired, we couldn't do it again. I almost let him get back into bed with us, but Tom started saying no, so I just went and slept with Jimmy in his little bed.
Our new plan is this: we moved the crib back into his room. If he gets up once, we'll take him back to the bed and soothe him back to sleep nicely, and tell him it's important to stay in bed, but if he gets up a second time, we're putting him in the crib and letting him cry to sleep. I was super worried he would climb out, or be traumatized or something, but he really, really needs to learn to go to sleep without me being present! It worked out better than I thought. He didn't climb out. The first time he cried for 45 minutes, although I'm sure it took him longer to get to sleep. The second night he only cried for about 5 minutes. And last night he only woke up once, at 3am, so no crib necessary. We'll see how tonight goes. It was so cute to fine him asleep like this:
My garden is going okay. I finally have little green tomatoes, and I dug around my potato plants, and found some good sized potatoes in there. I left them to grow. Round two of my strawberries are coming in, and the garlic is almost done. My swiss chard looks delicious. I pulled out the overdone peas and the kale, and put in some late beans and more carrots and salad greens in the place where I thought I had planted "crystal wax mini onions". Well, I thought they had all died, but I found them. They were just a lot smaller than I thought! I thought maybe garlic sized, but no, this is them:
