New Year

Jan 01, 2011 15:13

Well, last night was okay. Jimmy actually slept through New Year's so I got to have my toast! He kept waking up earlier so I was getting afraid! We had lots of fun playing yesterday. Apparently, he LOVES to be tickled like crazy. I also swung him in my arms like that picture of his cousin Erin and Aunt Gina, and he LOVED that. It's about the most fun I've ever had with him. I've also been doing stuff with him from the Happiest Toddler on the Block, and he has been pretty happy about it - easier to deal with, too!

Tom and I stayed in last night, of course, and had our champagne toast at midnight (also a "just in case" one at 11pm), and watched our latest favorite TV show, Bones. It has really grown on me. It really hit me last night - we have a baby now, but by the end of next year, we will have a walking, talking toddler. Crazy. I finally felt like a parent and not some overworked, overtired baby sitter. I can't wait - it seems like every day he is more fun.

I also had the great fun of cleaning out and washing out our fridge - the food we left behind did NOT keep well. I hope to get the Christmas tree down today and try and clean up the house at least a little bit! Tom is playing 8 Bit Heroes on the PS3 - that's part of his Christmas present. He beat Donkey Kong (the new one) while at Jason's house.

This has been a crazy year for changes - I became a Mama, moved to the Burbs, quit my job and became a stay-at-home-mom, and bought a full size house instead of a tiny condo, and we are now the sole owners. I also became an aunt to two more children, and went from spending my life behind a computer to spending it in a playroom chasing a baby every day!

I think the biggest challenge for me is going to be adjusting to live on a single income. Also, making it through long days as he moves towards one nap. I think the "Happiest Toddler" book is going to go a long way towards helping me keep my temper. I know for the money issue, I'm just going to have to do more planning and cooking at home, and staying off of amazon.com!!!

I look forward to having lots of fun with my family, and showing Jimmy all kinds of things. I look forward to having a small bit of my independence back, and being able to go out again! I hope I manage to be positive with Jimmy every single day, and give him something to be happy about every day. I look forward to designing, planning and growing a brand new garden! I look forward to getting healthy again and taking charge of my eating. I look forward to Jimmy's first birthday!!! I hope I get to see my family tons, and Tom's family too, and I hope that all my family grows in happiness and wisdom!

Okay, enough mushy-gushy! Hope everyone has a good year!
