Reaching! Kneeling! Eating!

Aug 27, 2010 14:26

Jimmy did something new yesterday - he reached for me to pick him up! Multiple times - daddy too. It feels so sweet, like he can finally show me he loves me.

Unfortunately, it also seems like the beginning of separation anxiety, because he now reaches for me when others are holding him, and cries when I leave the room. Which I've been doing a lot since I'm trying to get ready for the housewarming. I finally just put him in the baby carrier until he was ready for a nap.

Also new and exciting - he got up on his knees by himself the other day! He didn't know what to do when he got there, but he was pretty happy about it. He wants to crawl so bad... Poor fellow is awfully frustrated. He has mastered the whine as well, it's driving me bonkers. And using me as a climbing tree. Such a squirmy boy! Hopefully he'll be crawling soon!

He's eating pretty good, too. He still gets some purees, and sometimes he gets really frustrated trying to get finger food to his mouth, but he was really chowing down on cooked carrots and a hamburger bun the other day. And bannanas he does pretty good with. He even tasted a cooked onion, but then he threw it on the floor! As far as purees go, he tried apricots for the first time this week, and he's getting the carrots and tomato purée tomorrow. He puts the spoon in his mouth all on his own now, and he can manage a sippy cup pretty well too.

My garden is doing ok. I have zucchini and kale now, and the carrots are finally making some progress. The green beans are done. I planted Swiss chard, lettuce, and spinach for the fall, but the stupid TURKEYS ate my broccoli! I'm gonna have to find my cold frame before the seedlings get any bigger!

Well James is now fully asleep, so I'm gonna go clean house some more!
