wool diapers

Well, the wool soakers experiment was a bust. Jimmy is just two heavy a wetter for cloth overnight. We tried bamboo fitted diapers with hemp boosters, and then the wool soakers, and both times Jimmy woke up because he was wet, and one night he soaked through the wool to the bed. The second night I just went ahead and put the disposable on him. I think we'll try again when he's sleeping better at night and eating less. He's still using the potty after nap times, which is cool, but I'm betting he'll be in night time diapers for a while.

Right now we're introducing more finger foods to Jimmy - fresh and cooked veggies he can gnaw on, and bread and the like. Even at some point we'll be giving him some chicken or turkey. Right now he still prefers to be spoon fed, I'm betting because he gets so frustrated with the whole foods. But apparently that's what they recommend now at 7 months, at least our doctor does. I ready a book called Baby-Led Weaning which advocates basically feeding the baby whatever you're eating (minus any choking hazards, like nuts or whole grapes, and cut up into larger chunks he can handle and suck on), and having your baby at the table with you, so we are trying to have family meals at night now. The hardest part is getting the meals on the table on time!!! This is the second night I've been a bit late, and Jimmy was a bit too cranky and hungry to experiment with finger foods. Tomorrow I'm going to try the crock pot and get it set up in the morning. Chicken stew sounds good to me!

We're also trying to get daddy involved more at bedtime. James' naps have changed, so now he doesn't want me to leave him while he's sleeping. It's getting old really fast. I read sometimes, but a lot of the time I just fall asleep sitting there, and I get nothing else around the house done that needs to be done. And there's so much stuff that needs to be done! We're trying to get all the baby-proofing around the house done. James is pulling up on his knees some now, so there's a good chance he'll be crawling in a month or two. Anyways, we're hoping we can get James used to Daddy and a bottle at night, so that I can have every other night off. Tonight didn't go so well because dinner was late. Gotta work on that!

Well, anyways, here are some more pictures from another trip to Sandy Pond Beach!

Eating is even messier without the high chair (but I helped, Mommy!)
