Meme time, because this is a neat one. These are four of my absolute favorite books. They might be pretty easy. If you've read them, you'll know. They're amazing.
Take four books off your bookshelf.
1. Write the first sentence.
2. Write the last sentence on page fifty.
3. Write the second sentence on page one hundred.
4. Write the next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty.
5. Write the final sentence of the book.
Let your friends guess what book it is!
Book One:
1. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays it was Court Hand and Sammulae Logicales, while the rest of the week it was the Organon, Repetition and Astrology.
2. The latter part was quite clear and showed that the swan was floating slightly on one side with one leg cocked over its back.
3. He guessed that he had been a fool and said cheerfully, "I am sorry, Robin Wood, but I am afraid it is much too far for me."
4. He but his horn to his lips and blew the four long notes of the mort without a quaver.
5. The cannons of his adversary were thundering in the tattered morning when the Majesty of England drew himself up to meet the future with a peaceful heart.
Book Two:
1. The week before I left my family and Florida and the rest of my minor life to go to boarding school, my mother insisted on throwing me a going-away party.
2. "I suppose I missed my window of opportunity to shower," he said as he put on a green CULVER CREEK BASKETBALL T-shit and a pair of shorts.
3. Most Christians and Muslims believe in a heaven and a hell, though there's a lot of disagreement within both religions over what, exactly, will get you into one afterlife or the other.
4. I stared out the window, watching as the suburban sprawl surrounding Birmingham faded into the slow-sloping hills and fields of northern Alabama.
5. I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful.
Book Three:
1. The house stood on a slight rise just on the edge of the village.
2. Ford scrambled round and flung his shoulder uselessly against the reclosing hatchway.
3. The robot still sat there, completely inert.
4. --there are 142 pages!--
5. "We'll take a quick bite at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe."
Book Four:
1. Pregnant.
2. In front of us across the path, stilted about the undergrowth, was another wooden sign with 12,000 Years Ago carved on it and painted white.
3. Last night I dreamt that I was giving birth to a cat.
4. --it's a poem! so I'll just give you the title-- No One More Unlikely
5. And each in turn we spoke your name.
So, I think 1-3 are easy, particularly three, but I don't think anyone will know number four. Have at it! I'll leave the answers in the comments later on.
