[There was a long pause between the time that she picked up the phone and the time that she actually spoke. It seemed somebody (Nobody?) had been losing some sleep over the most recent developments. The way everyone had been acting made her hesitant to ask what was on her mind, but -- well, how was she to know if she never said what she needed to find out? At least this was better (in the short term) than asking someone directly.]
I-- I know this is going to sound like a stupid question, but... has anything like this happened before? Everyone seems very certain that something is going to happen.
[Because, sure, she knew that this place wasn't quite right, but no one had quite covered exactly how wrong it could get.]
