The procedure wasn't nearly as horrible as we were prepared for - they had to aspirate some bone marrow and then take a "core sample" of both bone and marrow... I know that *sounds* super nasty, but she said it really didn't hurt much, considering... hurray for lidocaine!!
and hurray for sisters who know their sh*t when it comes to medical stuff - Stephie had all the right questions lined up for the doc, so now we feel like we're clearer on why they're testing, what they're looking for, and when we'll know more. My mom's been pulling her ditzy blonde routine whenever medical stuff comes up (and those of you who know her know that THAT is an act - she's sharp as a tack in other parts of her life).
Anyway, the upshot is it ended up being a stress-releasing afternoon - it wasn't until I was relaxing with an excellent Reisling in the Santa Cruz Harbor that I realized just how keyed up I had actually been. So we were able to enjoy a nice visit with mom and get some health business taken care of, too....
Talking about Mom's hubbie (who we call Cappy) and how great he's doing for 89 (yes, he's a bit of a cradle robber with my mom!)... 'pparently he subscribes his spryness to a daily dose of flaxseed, so I thought I'd pick up some capsules at Costco this afternoon. Not only did I do that, but SCORE!!!! Costco now carries 5-HTP, a drug-free mood elevator that I credit with keeping me from being a grouchy bitch. (well, most of the time, anyway!) I love it when the good things in life get more convenient... and cheaper!
