AND most of the members are either current seniors or alumni....just out of curiousity, how do you all feel about the walk out and the calendar change

I supported the calendar change the entire time I was at Pali, and so I still support it now. I feel like the argument that the "first summer will be shortened" is moot, because it's not as if that time just disintegrates. It'll be 'regained' when students are finishing their senior year, because college schedules aren't simultaneously changing, so essentially that summer (before you start college, or work, or anything else) is just three weeks longer... if that makes sense.
Obviously there are other cons to changing the calendar, but I feel like they're greatly outweighed by all the pros. For one thing, winter break will actually be a break. A lot of teachers give projects during those three weeks "off." Even if you don't start doing homework until the last week of vacation, you're always remotely aware of the fact that you DO have work that needs to be done. For AP students, the calendar change is a huge plus (in my opinion), because you won't be as pressed for time during the year (which means that classes will be less stressful than they are now), and you don't have those five useless weeks following AP tests where every teacher gives you a project or two.
Either way, I understand that this is a big change, so I'm not surprised that it's being argued. In general, any kind of large-scale change tends to bring about uproar, with the complaints blown out of proportion. None of these changes are going to ruin anybody's lives, and the benefits from the change will probably make you all happier and more comfortable in the long-run. The calendar will be changed, everyone will adjust and realize that it doesn't really matter, and life will go on...
