A/N: Sorry this is so late. Was trying to finish this up. But at the moment I am having another disagreement with my muse. Have promised everything I can think of. So I thought I had made every one wait long enough. So here's what I got so far.
God it was only the eighth week of the school year. And it seemed like it was going on forever. When her cell phone rang, she jumped. It was Marco. She had been avoiding his call for weeks now. She wasn't really sure why. She knew she couldn't keep this up. It wasn't fair to him. He hadn't done anything wrong.
"Hi Marco."
"Alex, I thought maybe you were going to ignore me again."
"I'm sorry. It wasn't your fault. I just. I don't want to talk about Paige."
"OK we won't. So how's school. You ready to do bodily harm to any of the little monsters yet."
"Yeah, this week has just been long. Every one seems to be in a mood."
"It's that full moon thing."
"I don't think its a full moon Marco. That was last week."
"Maybe its just running late."
"Very funny. So why'd you call."
"Just checking on you. And to invite you to dinner in two weeks. Justin and I are having our new house warming party."
"So you finally found a place."
"Did you ever doubt."
"No, I guess not."
"So, will you come? Please, I'm begging."
"OK,OK I give. I'll be there. Just call me next week and remind me."
"Oh you can count on it. Well I'll let you get back to plotting the demise of little monsters."
"Bye Marco."
"Bye Alex."
Sitting in the faculty lounge, grading some of the assignments turned in that day she noticed the room was fuller than normal.
"Mark," she said looking at one of the other teachers in the history department."Are we having a meeting or something."
"Yeah, Krite had Melanie go around and tell us to meet in here."
"Oh, I must have already been in here, Thanks Mark."
"No prob Alex. Krite is probably going to tell us about Mr.Lamont."
"Does anyone know how he's doing?"
"Not that I've heard."
The door opened and in walked Vice Principle Raymond Krite. Alex couldn't stand the man. She had taken an immediate dislike to him at the beginning of the year. And her feelings of dislike toward him only increased as the progressed. Most of it she knew stemmed from the fact he wouldn't take no for an answer. Since the third day of classes he had asked her out every day. And telling him that she was a lesbian had only seemed to make it worse. She hoped this meeting was quick as he began to speak.
"As most you know by know Mr. Lamont had a stroke yesterday. I've spoken with his wife, and has informed me that his doctors are not sure he will be able to return to work. I've made a request for a replacement. In the mean time we will have substitutes coming in and out of here. If we are lucky this will only last a week or two before they find someone permanent. So lets all try to help in keeping the disruption to a minimum. Thank you that's all."
As most of the faculty began to exit the room, she wondered if she could get out before Krite noticed her. Scooping together the assignments and her lesson planner she stood up to leave.
"Alex could you wait a minute," spoke Krite." I need to speak with you."
Shit she thought. Keep it civil. Don't lose it in here. There's still too many faculty members around. And he's not worth getting fired over. She sat back down at the table she was just at. After a few more minutes Krite walked over to her.
"Alex how were your classes today?"
"Just fine Krite, just fine."
"Please call me Ray. We've had this discussion before."
"I know Ray. I just forgot."
"Look Alex, have dinner with me tonight."
"Ray really I can't. I've already made other plans for this evening."
"Cancel Alex."
"Ray I've already told you I'm not interested. Your just not my type."
"How do you know if you won't go out with me."
"Ray I'm a lesbian. And its no secret."
"Your not seeing anyone right now are you?"
"No not at the moment."
"Then have dinner with me."
"I really can't. Look I have to go."
"I'm not giving up Alex."
"Maybe you should."
She picked up her things and walked out of the room.

A/N: Didn't really like the beginning of this part but I guess for now I have to live with it. And I do promise they will meet.
Eight weeks and five different school. Well she was enjoying herself, at least most of the time. She thought she was holding her own with the students at least. Her own studies were going well. A.J. was adjusting to the daycare she had him in. Everything was looking good. Her parents were talking about taking a vacation in a few months. Dylan had informed them that he was moving back to Toronto. And for the most part she had managed to push Alex to the back of her mind. The first week had been the hardest. Marco I told her that Alex knew she was here. he even said that he could pass on any messages that she might have. She had come so close in that first week on asking Marco where Alex lived. She never did though that was a closed chapter in her life. Or so she wished.
Now as she stood staring up at the building in front of her, she wondered about coming full circle. The call had come two days ago. A semi-permanent position at Degrassi in the math department. It would be for six weeks. She had jumped at the chance. Not to teach math or be someplace for longer than a couple of days. Because it was Degrassi. Standing out here staring at the building wasn't going to win her any points if she was late.
Her first day was going well. Her students were behaved for the most part. Many wanting to know about their missing teacher. During her free period she had chosen to stay in her classroom acquainting herself with where the class should be. After classes were done she left. She saw a few other members of the faculty, she was in to big a hurry though to stop and talk to any of them. She wanted to get home and spend some time with her son before Jason picked her up for dinner.
They had started seeing each other officially six weeks ago. He was nice and Paige liked him. She just was having a hard time taking it past movies and dinner. And when he would ask about having an outing with A.J. along so they could get to know one another, she always said no. She knew Jason would be great with A.J. She just didn't want her son getting attached to someone who wasn't going to be around forever.
"Hey mom I'm home," yelled out Paige as she entered the house.
"We're back here dear," her mom called back.
Walking toward the living room, she heard A.J. start running.
"Mommy, mommy," he yelled as he jumped into her arms.
"How's my big boy?"
"Good Granna's letting me watch Power Rangers."
"Mom, we talked about this."
"I know. But what are grandmothers for, but to spoil."
"Mom, It's just this show."
"You hate it, I know."
"He's not really old enough for Power Rangers."
"I know. So your seeing Jason again tonight?"
"Yes. He'll be here in a couple of hours."
"So is it serious."
"He'd like it to be."
"And you."
"I don't know. No that's not true. He's nice and I have fun when we're together."
"But he's not Alex."
Looking at her mother with a surprised look on her face.
"This or Jason has nothing to do with Alex."
"Of course it does Paige. It always has. You never told us what happened. Only that it had been a mistake. We knew better."
"Why are you bringing Alex up know."
"Dylan told us that she was here and that you had seen her."
"Alex is the past. She moved on so did I."
"What ever you say dear," her mother said as she walked out of the living room.
Why did ever one keep bringing Alex up to her. Just when she thought she had pushed her back into her little corner.
Jason had picked a nice restaurant to take Paige to. He was hoping to get her to commit to their relationship.
"So how was your day Paige?"
"Went well. Didn't get to meet much of the other faculty though."
"There's always Monday."
"I suppose."
"Paige, can we talk. I mean really talk?"
"Jason lets not do this. I enjoy your company."
"I'm looking for more than that," stopping to gather his thoughts. "I would like for us to be more. I mean we get along great. And I would love to meet A.J. Paige I just think we could work."
"Jason, I'm not looking for anyone . I don't want a full time relationship. I just want it to be me an A.J. for a little while longer."
"Then I can't do this anymore, Paige. I want more out of this than you do."
"I'm sorry Jason."
"That doesn't help Paige, not at all."
