Ahoy! Haven't interacted with thee in a while.

You take death way, way too seriously. The quote is right, though, the idea of a soul without a body is a silly notion that's only cropped up in christianity in the last few centuries in order to make the other silly idea of ressurection look slightly less silly. (The ressurection of everyone during the apocalypse, not the one of the relatively intact corpse of Jesus.)

But, yeah, digressions into historical philosophy aside, perhaps if you acknowledge that fearing death is a purely personal descision on your part, and not actually a logical conclusion stemming from natural laws, maybe it won't bother you as much. Also, if it helps, you could try following Jesus ("you should really be nice to people, within reason") rather than Luther ("You must maintain your soul to retrieve the holy doggy-treat from Jesus' hand after death"). It's a much more dying-independent philosophy: note that the founder was relatively sanguine about it when it happened to him. Or you could switch to Taoism, that would work, too. :-P
