The best Feast yet!

If you love the beach, and you've never been to Hawaii.. you might and as well start saving now for the Feast in Maui, 2008. Maui beaches are the prettiest, warmest beaches I have ever been in. The water is a wonderful clear blue. We went snorkeling on Family Day and saw many beautifully colored fish and even the coral reef itself was interesting to see. A large sea turtle swam right by Paul's legs.. I got extremely excited and smiled with my mask on and got water up my nose and forgot to breathe! HA! Please note: Giggling while wearing a snorkeling mask is NOT permitted.
The guys enjoyed surfing while us less-surfing-types enjoyed the warm day and the warm wind, our feet in the warm sand, a float in the warm water, and a rest in the shade of a Palm Tree. (Did I say WARM? Please Note: Clothing is optional in Maui..Just Kidding! well.. kinda.. I sometimes wonder how some people can wear so... little)
Church was wonderful. Friendly COLORFUL people.. everyone wearing flowers, looking so nice and relaxed. There were great messages. Services seemed to fly by everyday. Please note: Mr. Mario Seiglie tells bad jokes! ;)
Paul and I, David L, David K, Jon Beam and two girls from Atlanta loaded up our two jeeps and drove The Road to Hana one day. Hana is located on the opposite side of the island from Lahiana(where services were held) It was an 8 hour drive.. the roads were very curvy and the last half was hardly even paved. We had a GREAT time.. the guys loved keeping up with each other and we all loved stopping by the waterfalls and the black sand beach and seeing all that there was to see. I, for one, absolutely loved seeing all of the tropical plants and trees and FLOWERS!! Please note: Seat belts are NOT optional when two 20-something guys are trying to keep up with each other.
Our studio condo was a great place for a great price... we had so much fun in our jeep and we ate VERY well. Fish and chips, Chicago style pizza, Maui Tacos and The PINEAPPLES! Oh the pineapples were so so good. Please note: Do not fly pineapples home unless you have them VERY WELL cushioned or you will have to give your mom crushed pineapple juice as a souvenir!
Paul and I, Joy and Clint, David K and David L all got to go Sailing on a champion sail boat. There wasn't a lot of wind, so we didn't go very fast, definitely not as fast as expected, but we did get to see spinner dolphins and it was a very peaceful and enjoyable 2 hour ride.  Please Note: Maui is just as beautiful from the water, looking in as from the land, looking out.
Paul and I had an extra day before the Feast and an extra day after the Last Great Day. Sunday morning around 7am we were mostly awaken by our hotel shaking. Paul was already awake.. he felt the beginning of the quake and said "Sherri, did you feel the earthquake" and just as he said that the shaking got stronger. I sat up and remember looking over at the hanging lighting fixture and seeing it swaying and I wasn't scared until the thought "When is it going to stop moving" crossed my mind.  I have been in earthquakes in Alaska, but smaller, only lasting a second. This one probably only lasted a minute, but seemed like a long minute, looking around at our moving hotel room. I think I got more scared after it stopped and the realization, that we were on the bottom floor..the whole hotel just moved  and.. tsunami?   Paul was very calm and cool as I went through my worries. Our power was out and remained out in the area until noon. We didn't even know how big it was on the other island until we checked out at 11am and listened to the radio in our jeep.  Our plane ride out of Maui was still unfortunately on time ;)  One of my worries was "how is the airport going to operate without power... how very very sad we may be stuck here for two more days" However, by 3pm or so on Sunday, I was ready to come home.
And now we are safe and happy at home... just trying to adjust back to TN time.  Grizzly grew probably 4 inches while we were gone!  I love home!
