I find this community to be fascinating, and I truly believe we could greatly enhance our overall health by sticking to the dietary findings of most anthropologists. In short, I think it just might work
While studying at the Univ of Michigan, I was blessed with taking a class from the one and only C. Loring Brace...the man who discovered the Mousterian pit. If you have read any of the Children of the earth series, you've read about cooking ptarmigan in a pit. This slow cooking process allows meat to be tenderized to the point where you litterally do not need teeth! Dr. Brace argued that this is the reason humans no longer need the extra molars or huge jaw muscles to survive. I have cooked several types of meat using this method and I can assure you, it works!
My biggest concern isn't whether or not we could adapt to a food style lacking grains? I have such a carb addicted personality I know I would miss it terribly! So here is my challange...
Anybody wiling to give this a try, or are you already trying it. Low carbs, lots of fresh veggies and in season fruits and meat when you can kill it? I personally need to loose quite a bit of weight, and the only way I have ever done it is through enormous amounts of excercise...I will keep track of things here and let you all know how I'm doing...Deal?
Blessings,
Dix
