i turned up at mithun's gig alone, everyone else having something better to do than listen to the lord abortion's unholy erotic alchemy, did a ten-minute botched-up job of his make-up and steeled myself for a really boring time. i missed the first band but mithun's set was pretty excellent. i wasn't listening too much to the music because i was too busy taking photos but the bit i did properly listen to, the original they did, was really good. lord mithius has a really great stage presence, does excellent vocals and doesn't look stupid wearing a huge fucking trenchcoat and a frilly shirt.

things looked better when chirag and this guy called steve appeared. i hung out with them for most of the gig. steve is interesting. apparently, metal gives him a headache. i ran into a few old friends there. irvin, farhan and hisham from my old secondary school were playing for one band. they were alright. the other band irvin played in were.... bad. they did a horrible set, at any rate. guitarist was off-key, singer had a really bad mat accent... bleah. they pretty much murdered the evil that men do.

some pigs came in mid-show. and stopped the gig. apparently, some moron in the fucking venue filed a complaint and the organizers were instructed to shut it down by seven thirty. pretty ridiculous considering it started at four. however, after the announcement, which was made by a middle-aged woman in muslim headgear - the mother of the organizer, the bands that played were so much better. there was this one band, in particular, that i was really interested in listening to. they had two keyboardists and initially, while they were soundchecking, the keyboards sounded fucking amazing. but when they started playing, and they only played one song, no one could hear the fucking keys. F.O.D. were really tight and enjoyable. the last band, i don't know their name, were great and fallen world played a pretty nice set.

i suppose it's not money wasted (i didn't pay for the ticket anyway), though i didn't enjoy all of the music. it's been a long time since i've been to a gig. the atmosphere is really fantastic to soak in. this youthful energy and strange but powerful brotherhood. ah it warms my heart to see a bunch of people wearing the same kind of black band t-shirt with their arms around each others' shoulders headbanging. hehe. i saw this one motherfucker in a white hooded sweater with the word 'GOTH' stenciled on the front. what a fucking moron.
