I weathered every layoff Sun ever had in its corporate history. Except this one.
Do not fret, gentle readers! The severance package is generous, I'm on payroll till March 23 and there is continuing stuff beyond that. There is plenty of silver lining. But by all means, send me technical writing leads. My badge will continue to work till midnight tomorrow, so I have time to pack the place up.
I'll miss walls that go all the way up and a door that closes. And the quality management -- I mean that unironically, I have had excellent bosses in my 8 years here.
But hey! It's the future! Exciting things will surely happen! And I have the company of my nearest and dearest, a great treasure in itself.
