For those of you who knew him T. Rex Mullen went to join my dad today at just before 7pm with my sister Meghan and I to see him off. He was lying in his own bed, unfortunately he was unable to move much and he was very sick. Fortunately his death ended his pain which came on recently.
He came into out family during the spring of 1991. I found him as a stray when I was riding my bike. We made friends instantly, I had a sleeve of saltine crackers, he had an appetite and a waggy tail. He was very wary of strange men, which lead to an amusing interaction with my dad. Every day Rex would come into the living room when my dad got in from work and would bark at him. Eventually my dad would settle in and the dog would also settle in near him. Sometimes my dad would try to pet him at which point myy dog would start barking at him again. They later became excellent freinds. When my dad went live downstairs Rex would still go down to see him, and enjoyed his company.
He was an excellent pet when we found him. He was low maintenance and well behaved. He loved to play and enjoyed attention. He loved to eat radishes and would hide it the bathtub (of all places) during thunder storms. Over the last few years he had been acting very senile although he had been in pretty good health. I've regretted not being able to give him as much attention as I did when I was a kid, but I'm sure my dad will help me ammend that now.
We love you Rex, and we will miss you.
