Ok, so the original plan was to go to school, get a degree and some cert's, and then jump back into IT work following the BS that occured in 2k4. I was working customer service as an interim and doing ok at the job. Hard work, but semi-honest and somewhat steady. Sure ( Read more... )

hmm... I'd praise the virtues of getting a job with my company- we're growing in size and in reputation- steadily... we have clients that include companies you (or any geek, for that matter) would likely saw off their left arm to work for... It's probably not long before we're globally recognized by the public, and not just the data-crunching and music industries...

but you know what... I'm not gonna do that- because you and I both know you don't want to work there...

it's a tough call... yours...

I mean, the cash - on one hand... is ultimately a good thing. Our consumerist society hardly lets you get away with making less than $20/hr if you want to live a lifestyle that would be defined as 'slightly more comfortable than the rest of the slaves'- The cash... is something I'm certain you, or anyone else for that matter, could use- dearly and desperately (hey, I know I could!)

But then, there's that 'career' issue... I'm sure everyone wants to be set for the long term- in some form or fashion... and how better to do it than to promise an investment of your time, your mind, and even in some cases, your emotions- to one specific field that pretty much guarantees a certain level of stability in your life. You get involved in something, and then you find jobs in that field- working your way up from the bottom...
It's not for everybody (I'm starting to think it's really just not for me)- but the security of a familiar 9-5 life... that's priceless for some people...

I guess the point of all the babbling is that in the end, it really is your decision- on more than one level... the ultimate answer to your question, sure... but also figuring out what sort of lifestyle you choose to live. You know what your life now is like... You're tasting the cash (no, not literally- please don't lick the paper money ;-)
-how different do you think your life will be if you do the 'finish-education-become-working-man' deal? Is it going to be the sort of different that you want it to be? Are you gonna get bloody sick of it in two years, or are you going to love every second of it?
I know you can't answer some of those exactly- since this is a game of equal parts introspection and educated guesswork... but I'm sure you get the idea...

I should stop babbling... hope that helps, or at least makes a little sense...
