I did at least manage to watch some spooky movies for Halloween (namely Werewolf by Night.) Well, and some Rifftrax. But as usual, I had no trick-or-treaters. I've already finished off all the mini-Crunch bars.
I do wish I'd had a chance to play some thematic video games, since October's proven a good excuse to branch out more. But when I had some time last busy month for computer games I found myself mostly occupied with Assassin's Creed II, which I've been trying to play for years but I seem to then get distracted for months, so I wanted to take advantage of my interest. And I own like six more games in the series I want to get to but stubbornly insist on playing them in release order, so I want to finish it.
Now that it's November if I can drag myself away from Assassin's Creed II there are a few games I might try now that I'm not trying to stick to theme. I really ought to try to replay the Dragon Age games in anticipation of whenever I'll get the new Dragon Age game, Veilguard, that just came out (ten years after Inquisition!) I still have no interest since I left off my Inquisition playthrough last year, however. The new game will have a lot to live up to, since Inquisition was one of my favorite games, but there should be something to enjoy regardless.
After staying up way too late reading, I got up at 7:30 am to shower. I had a breakfast of waffle, mushy scrambled eggs, and sausage. We drove into Cleveland all the way to the lakeside and parked on the street near the science center between the stadium and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with no charge on Saturdays.
They were setting up for the 2024 induction ceremony that evening, which we'd had no idea about when we planned the trip. A (local?) DJ was interviewing people inside regarding the ceremony. There was an interesting mix of people in the museum, including a little group of Chinese ladies.
The museum held artifacts of rockers, clips, a "garage" of instruments people could play, and theaters where people could watch themed clips. There was a lot of vinyl. We moved quickly through the rather verical museum and left by 10:45 am.
Our train didn't leave until 1:30 pm, so we decided we took a leisurely drive and arrived in the town of Wellington where they were having a little Halloween fest with kids in costumes. We ate at a downtown tavern/sports bar, but it took so long to bring out our entrees (after admittedly delicious pretzel bites) that we had to rush down to the train station, leave them in the car, and sprint on the train to get the last seats.
It seemed like we were the youngest people on the car. The train slowly chugged past rusting models while the conductor complained about how they had no money to fix them. I wish they'd had more talk or information instead of just passing fields. It was pretty, although there were lots of insects outside. Eventually we stopped and the train reversed direction back.
We decided to go to the Marblehead Lighthouse mentioned by Susan. We went over the bridge of Sandusky Bay to Catawba Island to Marblehead and a lovely park and lighthouse. There was a nice mix of people enjoying the weather. Key got to pet two dogs. We could see Cedar Point across the bay and sailors on the water.
We drove on, past the nuclear power plant where a great murmuration of swallows flew. We drove through Detroit at dusk. We stopped at a Wendy's near our hotel but, despite the lights being on, they told us they were closed due to not having enough people, so we picked up McDonald's.
