Next up, bitching about the state of Monster-kidom. This weekend was the end of voting for the Rondo awards and the winners were announced last night. Rondo is billed as the awards the fans vote on and thats true, to a degree. I had a funny feeling about the vote this year after reading over the selections before I voted. While there were a few that won which actually deserved it, I saw a bunch that not only shouldnt have won, but I dont see how they did. And thats the problem with this hobby today. It used to be all about feeling like a kid again, the wonder, fun and awe of classic monsters. These days its denigrated into a business and even worse, something subject to greed, arrogance and stupidity. I used to look forward to this hobby as an escape from this fucked up world we live it. But now its become cut-throat, dog eat dog and subject to the same pettiness and bullshit thats already in our lives way too much. I dont get the joy I used to out of it and I'm sick of a great hobby being ruined by people who are in it to simply get something, from monetary gain to ego stroking, I'm sick of it. If things cant be what they used to because of our adult tendancies, deal me out, I can get all this shit from everyday real life....
