Mirror Mirror, Character Advice

So I had a great time at Mirror Mirror. Liu, my character, was originally a PC in a one on one fantasy game which never concluded, and then progressed onwards to become a key “NPC” in my Dreadfall campaign, which had a number of characters I created with deep backgrounds and histories. I enjoyed playing Liu originally, so it was nice to be able to revisit him as PC again...also, the character had something of a history already of fate pulling him between worlds, so that fit in with the campaign themes quite nicely. It actually gelled rather nicely with his 'monk' style background giving him a rather calm outlook on his new surroundings compared to the shock other characters found themselves in.

It turned out there were more people I already knew at game then I had expected, so that was nice. The group of us that knew each other ended up gathering into one cabin, and this made for a rather fun social setting. The 'mirror gate' props made for some very cool atmosphere, lit fountains with running water. This was also the first time I had the pleasure of experiencing one of Rob's villains from the PC side, and boy does he do it well. Imposing, fearsome, and you love to hate them. Very, very, cool.

I am finding that my preferred style of combat is definitely skirmishing as opposed to line fighting. I like running around, I like combat that is fast and furious, and I really like to mix it up much more then trying to hold a place in a battle line. The exhilaration is wonderful. It leads me to a dilemma, however.

Running around the field doing the kind of flanking maneuvers that folks like Darren and Brian do is dangerous, and I don't want to be That Guy who's always getting cut down behind lines and has to be rescued, and lets face it, I don't really have the raw speed or skill folks like Darren do. I've never been a natural athlete. Now, to compensate, I ended up taking the Champion specialty header to get the extra armor and vitality to avoid becoming a liability. Strictly character speaking, however, Liu isn't supposed to be a tank, he's more supposed to be the light skilled kung-fu martial artist type, so idealy I'd like to have more monk skills or something like skirmisher rather then Champion which is more a tanking header. I'm not sure if changing out would end up being disastrous, however, so I'm very conflicted, and not sure what I should make my final build into. Advice/input on that front is certainly welcome.
