Terrorism. the act of causing destruction, death, and dismay in order to achieve a distant goal usually of the sort random maniacs love. Chaotic and sporadic attacks of dubious valor and achievement.
Tourism. The act of going to a different place in the act of spending money to have a good time. Random and sporadic attacks of cash spending for the sake of having fun and good times at your place of interest.

The crossing into the united states of america apparently to Ontario residents at the Sarina border on Thursday afternoon was not wanted..period. ONE borderguard decided since he either had a very tiny peenor, or simply was not getting some, pulled over *every* car in his lane to be inspected. full stop.
After being harassed and told that apparently the con t-shirts, buttons advertising next years con, and some conbooks as fliers we were told this was commercial advertising and a few other rather odd terms and told that since we did not declare and have properly filled out forms..which we never heard of.. we were to either be barred from crossing, or go back to Canada and *dispose* of the items.
I can not stress enough how silly it was to see 3 grown men tossing the car in a frantic search for more conbuttons or such..much less have our passports stamped with a paper that had to be removed before Sunday midnight or else *bad things* would happen, to even being told about our con badges.you know the ones you pay for at cons of your persona and name?. were possibly to be taken way and destroyed as well.
2.5 hours of this nonsense all to find out on the way back the other guards basically let us know it was pointless and not necessary at all..so indeed joe border guard was simply being a dick..but since the items were destroyed and he was *doing his job* you cant do a damn thing about it. Well except refuse to go to American cons anymore and inform them and your own local mpp since it is vote time that the supposedly open border is indeed getting to be like checkpoint charlie from berlins dark days.
last year the hassle and interrogation chamber was about a diabetic injector and replacement needles being listed to them as *undisclosed weapons* which still make me laugh.
Sadly for now as far as we are concerned its stay on this side of the border for now, maybe attend another American con late fall, and spread the word to American con heads about the insanity of us canucks wanting to attend, but the border saying we simply are not good enough to come unless its with a fat wallet and a empty car.
The con itself was good aside from the sadness of 1k attendance and 2 elevators. That hurts :)
