Drip Drip Drip.

Thursday was planned to be my 'quiet day'. I am involved with a charity called Groundwork and we have a huge project on at the moment which is to change the management of a big chunk of a cemetery near the city centre to promote the regrowth of meadow flowers. To get the right mix, you don't cut the meadowland until everything has had a chance to set seed and you rake off as much of the cut stuff as possible. Obviously, this isn't being done in the active part of the graveyard and with the exception of a few family plots, most of the graves in the area we've started at cover from 1914-1950. So we've begun cutting the really long grass down. The cemetery isn't a neat grid-like modern effort, but a scattered field with a lot of broken and fallen headstones. The original idea was to have a mini tractor mower and strim around the stones. The tractor can do about 1/4 of the area with a spotter walking in front of it so that is going damnedly slow. Marginally quicker is for someone to be strapped to Stihl FS450 with the strimmer head on it. Given the length of the grass, the ideal would be to put the brush-cutter head on, but chipping the 'terrain' is... well. So I spent Tuesday and Wednesday with a full  harness, hard hat, visor, safety glasses and ear defenders cutting my way into 15 acres of lumpy meadow.

This morning was achy but I had to go and view a place that is owned by the company who own this 'house/hostel'. It is 1.5 miles from here and I have to share the house with a nice guy (I met him briefly). I already have a key and have begun to move stuff between showers, but the showers have all been heavy. I've given up for the day and eaten instead.

Tomorrow is a bit more 'go'. I think.
