HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!
asshole landlord has dropped the bomb: our rent increases by $200 and no negotiating. it's very last minute, and yes i know we have rights, blah blah blah. but the point is, we want out- this is the final straw in a long list of inconveniences and slights.
HOW DO WE FIND AN APARTMENT IN NEW YORK CITY (OR CLOSE BOROUGHS)?
when we moved here we had saved for a year, and paid a broker, and had the 3 months rent necessary to move on in. but now, with a mere 2 months notice and it being the holidays, i don't know what to do. a broker costs too much, i don't anything about craigslist, and while we have plenty of friends here none of them no anything about apartments for rent.
we are even willing to pay what we pay now, which is not insubstantial. our lease is up last day of january. we need to move in that day, wherever that is.
PLEASE HELP US, IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING. A GREAT BROKER WHO CAN WORK WITH US, A COOL LANDLORD, A SERVICE YOU HAD GOOD LUCK WITH, ETC. WE ARE CLUELESS AND NEED HELP.
