Nearly 20 years ago, I was riding as passenger in a car and I dozed off for less than a second. In that brief instant, I had a fragment dream that was so vivid that not only did I remember the fragment, but I carried the memories of the person that I was in that dream and I knew what had brought me to that place, the circumstances of the scene I had just witnessed and the characters around me. I got home and wrote a 3-page outline. I later expanded it to a 15-page outline. I took the first paragraph of the outline and turned it into 30 pages of manuscript.
This is a companion piece to "Idarra's Revenge."
There's another novel I'm currently working on, contemporary fiction. I plan on re-opening the "Crystal Heart" manuscript though and finishing it over the next year.
Crystal Heart
Am
Cold in her bed
G E7 Am
Lying awake with the thoughts in her head
C G Am
Starting to shake with a feeling of dread
F G C Am E
Oceans of red, seasons of cold, clear blue
F G C Am F G Am
Heavens of green; what can it mean? What can she do?
Dm G C E
Locked in a bauble like carved crystal ice
Am G C Am
Echoing pulses of light warm the jewel
Am G C F
Knowing neither hate nor love, living must suffice
Am C G F G Am
Beware the bitter gift of a twisted heart and cruel
Sunrise at last
The nights go so slow, the days speeding fast
How is she to know the future from the past
Centuries vast, yellow and rose bright beach
Clocks out of time, poems without rhyme. What will she reach?
Refrain
Where does truth lie?
Can it be found under a distant sky?
There she is bound, for she must know why
Feelings deny, friendship a word unknown
How came this hell? How to dispel? Can fate be thrown?
Refrain
The answer obtain
If this is real then why should there be pain?
Better not to feel, let yesterday regain
In ignorance again for the truth cannot be borne
Shattering in light with crystal slivers bright as the breaking morn
Refrain
