Character(s): Aya, and anyone who cares to join in
Content: Aya talks to "herself" (Ceres)
Setting: Café near Nilfheim
Time: Friday afternoon
Warnings: None. Inner angst.
She wasn’t exactly sure what she was doing.
Sitting at a pretty little café, idly swilling her plain tea around in her teacup, she was at a loss for reasonable thought. Someone else wouldn’t stop thinking, of course, so her head was always full of a steady lull of ideas, but she herself didn’t know what to make of them.
We don’t know what’s going on here but it’s oddly strange. Tree-leaves made of cloth leaves that don’t scratch your skin when you touch them... Mikage are most likely putting plans into motion to take Juno and Pallas while we’re distracted - not that we were much of an obstruction, but they know. Aya’s doing alright.
They hadn’t had bubble tea for sale at the counter. That was her sole idea, the only one she had right then that made any sense. Sometimes, it seemed that Ceres preferred to dominate their head. Well, she had, lately. Back in Japan, Ceres actually making her prescence known was a treat.
If this is another world, did we accidently touch a fragment of the hagoromo and spirit ourselves off... but this isn’t heaven. I hardly remember Heaven. It’s been so many years it’s near impossible to. Centuries. It’s odd how every maiden finds nothing but trouble in her search to return. So many men steal so many robes, so many maidens throw theirs away. Human emotions are so complicated...
And she really wanted bubble tea right then, and she wasn’t sure why. She’d normally just go for a soda and a bunch of sugary candy-coated junk food and pizza, rather than bubble tea, but right then she just yearned for bubble tea and some of Yuuhi’s formal cooking and things.
Maybe it was just nerves. The idea that somewhere, back home, she had been missing for days, and that no one knew where she was. Maybe Touya had stormed the Mikage building, thinking they had caught her. Maybe the Aogiris - Suzumi, Mrs. Q, and Yuuhi were freaking out, too. Maybe Chidori and Shuro were on their wits’ end about her location.
If the Mikage - her family - told her friends that they didn’t have her, and they believed them... would she be taken for dead?
But no. Touya would never write her off as dead just like that, or believe a single word those stupid Mikage would say, and nor would her friends. After all, they had been scheming, manipulative bastards since her sixteenth birthday, and if they weren’t invading her personal space or making her life a miserable hell, they were sure to be destroying the lives of her friends. Or plotting whatever devious move they were going to make next.
It was hard to get rid of those thoughts once they came to mind, though.
You’re being quiet, Aya.
“Well, yeah, better than talking to no one,” she replied under her breath, lifting her teacup up to her lips as she said it. Pssh, yeah, talking to no one. As if she ever did that.
She added, as a snarky thought, and it’s hard to get a pleasant thought in when you’re flippin’ out like that!
Ceres, of course, understood this perfectly, and replied, I’m not the one concerned over a man.
“Shut up,” Aya snapped, rather nastily, and put her teacup down with a ceramic click.
And so life rattled on.
