Hei indeed was more alert than before, as he was finishing up on his conversations with two individuals. Squall, a man from someplace he never heard about, had been helpful enough to inform about the locals and what dangers were out there, what with no form of law enforcement. The talking hyena was one of these dangers. Yin was either back in Japan or out in this place that was going to take some time to figure out. Right now, it could not be determined which place was more dangerous. He just knew that Yin was alone, vulnerable, and possibly afraid too.

The hyena had acted very much like a natural predator, so she couldn't have been a contractor. Unlike the human soul in cat's body he knew fairly well. She wasn't affiliated to the Syndicate either, or she would have spoken his Messier Code. (By now, all other contractors in the organization would know of it--Hei was absolutely certain of this.) The hungry animal who spoke English was a pest all by herself for considering Yin to be prey. As he referred to Yin by her former name and was real vague on the details while being nice about it, he had hoped this would give him time to find his friend before the hyena could.

Hei, feeling a little on edge at this point, thought he had seen something move out of the corner of his vision. But he kept walking, and stayed as Li Shengshun. The blonde natives that chattered amongst themselves didn't need to be anymore uncomfortable by his presence.

Listening closely, he heard a light pitter-patter on the nearby lamp post. Hei came to a stop as he passed it. Moving only his eyes, Hei could see a little paw stretching, trying to reach for his bag. He turned around and acted a bit surprised to see the meerkat wrapped around the pole. "...Hello?"

This place no doubt has an African Safari of sorts, Hei kept to himself.
