He'd been looking around and honestly hadn't seen much before he spotted what appeared to be quite a bit of destruction. Well, there's the darkness he was looking for, apparently. Never one to just ignore an opportunity when he saw one, Joshua wasted no time in getting the masked boy's attention.
"Well, don't you look all dark and foreboding," he chimed with a girlish giggle, pushing his hair back, "Destroying poor innocent plant life, tsk tsk. I'm sure someone's not going to be very happy with you."

"So what. You can't please everyone." He hesitated a moment, taking note of something. By the time he'd fought Ventus the last time in the Keyblade Graveyard, he'd had gained some skill in sensing light and darkness in his environment. Noticing the light practically dripping from him, Vanitas began to approach. A confident swagger could be seen in his stride.
"This ain't a spectator sport. Though something tells me you're a special little Princess."
Not far away, but within sight, a few Unversed stand over Lumens fading into sparks of light. They are one of many.

But it was surprisingly hard to tell the difference between the two. Interesting. This was going to be fun.
"Oh, but I was so enjoying watching," he said, standing his ground and sarcasm dripping from his voice, "I mean, really, setting grass on fire? Could you possibly get any less creative?" It was pretty lame, as far as destruction went. Joshua could think of so many more ( ... )

"Like I was here to be creative," he shrugged, gesturing with his Keyblade. "This is just to pass the time."
Behind the masked boy, a good distance off, a large, feline-like creature sprung from the grass, running full-tilt and spreading its wings. The white creature lunged, half in flight, with teeth beared and claws unsheathed at Vanitas.
(There was the faintest flicker of emotion, but it was pure hatred.)
Several small Floods zipped through the air, sending the Lumen to the ground. The three made short work of the creature, letting it languish into light.
"What about you. There are monsters in these fields." Like me. "You must have a death wish."
The Unversed eyed the light-haired youth. Their small movements were as quick and fleeting as a bird's.

He watched impassively as the Lumen was torn apart, and his only response to the Unversed was a snort when Vanitas called them 'monsters.' Please, they seemed to be about the same level as Noise. Hardly anything to worry about it. Still, the boy had included himself in the batch of monsters, which, while more accurate, led to some questions. He smiled with an obviously false and rather mocking sweetness. "Oh, but don't we all?" he replied, a playful lilt to his voice now, "Living itself is having a death wish." Alright, so he was technically already dead. But many people would say he had a death wish anyway.
