Hi! Have another lion! canfinallyroar March 12 2011, 02:30:29 UTC
Simba sulked around the city of Paixao, lost in his thoughts. It seemed like lost souls were popping up and disappearing everywhere. Things have certainly seemed to have become complicated at his stay in this strange place, and Simba really didn't like it. He often found himself missing his old life of Hakuna Matata, and old nightmares merged with new ones now, making sleep almost impossible. If only there was a way to get away from it all, even just a moment...

Simba didn't know when he got to Muspelheim. All he did know was that a strange scent was in the air. No doubt a lion, but one he had yet to encounter. Could it be Zira, perhaps? Simba tensed and looked around, spotting a lioness not too far off. No, it couldn't be her. Surely, she would have sniffed him out and attacked him by now instead of sitting around. He stayed rooted to the spot, indecisive about whether or not he should try to sneak away for confront the lioness.

And at first, as with Kovu, Vitani doesn't notice. Not until the breeze managed to carry his scent towards her, and she whips her head up in the direction it came from.

And for a moment just stares at Simba. He was quite a bit younger than she had ever known him to be, she must have been a small cub if she was there yet at all.

But when she gets over her surprise, she decides to get up and walk over towards him. "Hello, Simba."

Nope. Definitely not Zira. Though he hadn't met up with her in person, Simba had spoken with her over the journals, and this lioness certainly spoke differently than her, though there was a similar rough sound to her voice.

He rose an eyebrow when she called him by name though. Someone else from his 'future,' or did word spread about him that fast? "Hi...I'm supposed to know you, aren't I?"

It will probably be a while yet before Vitani understands the whole timeline thing, so she can't help the surprise that shows...but then again he looks much younger than she ever remembered. About Nuka's age had been, if she was guessing right.

"You are. I'm Vitani." Then, with some hesitation, "Zira's daughter."

Say what now?!

Simba couldn't really remember Kovu mentioning that he had any siblings. He'd have to whack him in the head at some other time for that...

"Zira?!" Simba took a step back, but saw no animosity from Vitani. He hesitated, but stayed put. Perhaps she had the same feeling towards her mother that Kovu did? "You don't...uhm...act like your mom..." For Simba's sake, he hope she took that as a compliment, though his voice obviously showed that he wasn't about to put any trust in her at the moment.

Those words certainly give her pause, atleast partly because no one had ever said anything like that to her before. She's not surprised by the lack of trust in his voice, atleast. Something such as distrust was something she was already used to as a Outsider.

After a moment, she just sighs. "I suppose that's true."

An awkward silence fell on Simba. It seemed she really didn't want to discuss her mother, though with the way he mentioned her, he wasn't surprised. "She arrived here not too long ago." He lay down and placed his head on his paws. "I don't know what her problem is, but she really doesn't like me." That was the understatement of the century.

Anyway, time to change the subject, yes? "I guess you're Kovu's sister then?"

"Kovu's already told me." And she's yet to figure out what she thinks of it, besides the thought of running into Zira...well, nervous didn't even begin to cover it. And she can't help but roll her eyes at Simba's words. Understatement indeed... "No one has told you...what happened?"

"I am, yes." Well, half-sister, but she doesn't see why to mention that.

Simba frowned at Vitani's look. "I know about Scar and what he did, but I don't really know anything about Zira." Vitani obviously knew with those roll of the eyes. "You mind letting me know about it?"

There's a bit of a pause at that. If Simba didn't already know, should she tell? ...probably. If Zira was here after all, he should atleast know why, right?

"Mother was Scar's mate. When he died, those loyal to him were banished. She has always wanted revenge on you for it."

Simba's eyes grew wide. He banished some of the lionesses? Even though there were some loyal to Scar, he didn't think he was capable for something like that.

"Looks like I have a lot to look forward to in the future, huh?" He frowned, not very happy with his future self...if that even made any sense. "Well," Simba turned and looked at Vitani. "I'm guessing something happens and it gets fixed since you don't seem to hate me."

Vitani herself seems amused by his surprise. It seemed...strange to see him younger than she was used to, not only because of the change in appearance but the differances in personality.

"So it would seem, Simba." She chuckles at his next words, though. "You have Kiara and Kovu to thank, really."

Simba could see Kiara talking him out of...whatever he was thinking, but Kovu too? Simba gave Vitani a skeptical look. "Are you sure about Kovu? It's not that I don't like him, but he's just so...moody." That was the nicest Simba could put it. That kid really needed to get rid of the stick up his ass. "You don't seem as tense as he is."

"Of course I'm sure, I was there." Of course, she's also leaving out quite a few of the smaller details, but as of yet Vitani is still not quite sure if she should actually go into detail. "It seems I'm from a...later time than him." She didn't know how else to explain that one, but atleast it's truth.

"I see." Simba still didn't understand the whole time difference thing. He gave up trying quite a while ago. Everyone he knew seemed to be from some time ahead of himself, and it was more than a little aggravating in the end.

Simba got back up and stretched. "I think I'm the only one here who's not caught up on stuff."

For Vitani it was just the opposate, so far everyone seemed to be from earlier times than her. And it both amuses and annoys her, on one hand the confusion of the other's is amusing, on the other having to explain can get annoying.

"So far, everyone I met is behind."
