Lady Corpse, Harlequin Demon, and Mummy cards. tenshinomakai July 10 2010, 17:53:06 UTC
Urd was definitely interested in finding out more about the cards she'd collected during her few forays into Halloween Town. Before the problems of Vyers and the mayoral election distracted her, she'd wanted to further explore the world. After all, cards like this weren't just there for decoration. She could sense a faint aura coming from each one. But things had happened, her power had deteriorated and the cards had been shelved. Until now.

The goddess, still in her child-like form, had made her way out of the city with little trouble and now walked up the short path to the church. Shantotto was an unpredictable force, her power obvious to anyone with an eye for such a thing, and Urd wished she had her own comparable power as a back up. You could never be sure what side Shantotto was on any given day.

Sighing, she opened the door, one hand in the pocket of her varsity jacket. "Shantotto!" she called, glancing around the interior.

The short tarutaru appeared above on the balcony. She was not the most patient taru, but given it would take time for everyone to see her message and arrive, wait she'd had to do.

At least someone had finally come. Someone she certainly recognized, however that is not what Urd had looked like the last she'd seen her.

"Well, well, are my eyes playing tricks? Or have you, dear Urd, gotten yourself into a bit of a fix?"

Ah, just what she needed. Comments on her new form in rhyme. Growling under her breath, Urd lifted her head to give the taru a wordless glare...not that it would deter her from gloating. Urd highly doubted that Shantotto had decided to make her entrance on the balcony by accident. She took comfort knowing that even in this body, she was still taller.

"Yeah, yeah. It's a long story," she replied dryly. While she normally might have met this challenge with more grace, Urd had been in a poor mood for days now, her usual impatience compounded by a variety of stresses. "Let's just get to business."

She pulled out the cards from her jacket, fanning them as if she were playing poker. "If there are beings really trapped in here, it's time we let them out."

"Trapped?" was all Cloud picked up on as he entered the church. "What ecactly do you mean, trapped?" Of course, he had seen some strange things in his time, but for someone -- something to be trapped in a card?

The blonde frowned, turning the object over in his hands, examining it on a whole new level now. Ever since finding the thing, he hadn't really considered the option that it was, you know, alive.

Shantotto disappeared for a brief moment, before reappearing on the stairs which she marched down from, standing before Urd, completely unphased by the fact she was still the shorter of the two. While she was rather curious of Urd predicament, she pushed it aside, for now. She could always pry later, for now business was at hand.

She gave a nod of agreement to Urd's words. "There are, and I do agree--"

Whatever the Tarutaru was next going to say would remain a mystery, as the third voice echoed through the church. Turning, she looked up at Cloud, noting the card in his hands, and more so noting his utterly ridiculous hair style.

"Trapped or perhaps transformed, I'm not yet sure exactly which, but non-the-less a monster appeared when I placed the card in the machine and threw the switch," she replied, not keen on having to explain this over and over. It wasn't a particularly difficult concept to grasp.

Urd turned to look up at Cloud as well, idly tracing her fingers over the edges of her cards. "And I doubt whatever they are, they can turn into cards at will." She frowned, looking down at the cards in her hand with thoughtful, dark eyes, the expression revealing the goddess behind the childish face. "Let's hope they feel like telling us who or what did this to them once we release them."

The Master walked in with shoulders hunched and looked down to Shantotto, smiling the entire way to the strange card machine. He crouched to make sure he could see the tarutaru at eye level. He held up a card to her face and asked, "Explain this again."

Ah, now here was a surprise. Not so much that he'd have a card; no, that was no surprise really at all. The fact he'd brought her it? That was the more surprising part.

She didn't so much as flinch as the Master got down to her height and held the card up in her face. Tilting slightly to one side to peek around the card and meet his gaze once more, Shantotto replied his question, not intimidated in the slightest, only getting slightly tired of having to explain and elaborate.

"It is, essentially, a creature trapped within, so once I have gathered all the cards, I can begin. Into the machine they'll go, one by one, and with the push of a button, their plight will be undone."

The Master let the small words before him echo in his mind, thinking of how each reverberation sounded surprisingly like a schoolmarm spouting information from an outdated text.

He brought a smile that seemed skewed, as though he were trying to hide it from Shantotto. "Trapped within...and this machine," he continued, pacing along the floor around her like a vulturous predator. "You found it, and operate it, and use it. Tell me, have you ever tried reversing the process?"

As calm as ever, the Tarutaru simply folded her arms. To get the machine to work properly she'd had to switch a lever that had seemed to make the machine work in reverse, thus did suspect the machine had also made them into cards and, like-wise, could still do so, however she had no intentions of revealing that to the Master of all people.

"While, in theory mind you, there should be a way, I quite honestly have better things to do with my day," she replied.

The Master smiled wider at the passive misdirect the patient Shantotto made in their conversation. It was always nice for him to see a bit of fight in the ones he targeted. He viewed himself as a hunter, so the chase always made it more exciting. Of course, the Tarutaru wasn't the one he was hunting. The answers were his prey.

"A scientific mind as well? Well, you're in good company then. Ever traveled through time and space before?" he asked. It was not his intention to call to her as a companion. He simply wanted to see how far down the rabbit hole goes.

No cards! theansweris4 July 16 2010, 04:34:32 UTC
While Reno hadn't exactly managed to pick up any cards, he was still more than interested in the process. It was something new, after all and it couldn't hurt to know more about it, even if he'd all but given up on seeing his bosses here.

What was with all the ridiculous haired men she was seeing today? Shantotto couldn't quite decide which was the more foolish of the two. Well, hopefully he'd also have a card. The sooner she got them all, the sooner she could get this done.

Currently standing on a pew, she set her arms on her hips, looking at the red haired newcomer expectantly.

Unfortunately, at least one of Shantotto's expectations would be falling a little flat, unless she would take something else in exchange. But neither of those facts was really one Reno's mind, as he stared down at her.

"Lookin' for somethin'?"

Wolf seemed rather out of it than usual. This wasn’t the best week for him to be out and about after all, what with the full moon coming up soon. He growled and grumbled to himself mostly. Scratching the back of his neck with a huff. When Wolf entered into St. Destino and saw Shantotto receiving some of the cards he lifted his eyebrow. Sniffing the air curiously before approaching her and reached in his pocket to retrieve the card.

“So I read that you needed one of these things,” Wolf handed the card over to her gingerly. He looked over it, his eyebrow still arched. “So what’s this research about anyway?”
