Character: Tear Grants, open to anyone
Content: Tear arrives in Paixao.
Setting: In the area around the Joutenheim Gate; [K8, L8]
Time: Mid-afternoon

Tear didn't know precisely what to make of her current situation. She had been in Daath Cathedral, having finally completed a report for the newly appointed Fon Master. Following this short and not entirely formal meeting, Florian had come racing in, gleefully dashing away again. That was how she and Anise had been invited to a game of hide-and-seek. The cathedral itself was a labyrinth of hallways, passages, balconies, and doors. Getting lost was easy, but the cathedral certainly did not house an entire domed city within its walls, of that Tear was sure.

She had opened a side passage, catching a quick flash of green... The next thing she knew her vision blurred in a wave of vertigo, there was a brief falling sensation, and then she was standing at the end of a long line of people beneath a gate sporting two giants whose clubs crossed one another to form an archway. After a year and more of traveling throughout Auldrant, Tear felt she was fairly well-versed when it came to geography. There was no city like this. It didn't exist. It just didn't.

The line eventually dwindled, and she was being greeted by the gatekeeper. Welcome to Paixao, may I have your name, please? The melodist, confused at this point but not entirely stupid, had looked the gatekeeper right in the eye, stuttered for a brief moment, and then answered (straight-faced) with something to the effect of, "Uh--Yulia. Yulia... Jue."

And that had been that. No questions, no skeptic glances, no laughter, no anger; nothing. A strange pocket-sized fonmachine had been pressed into her hands and she was standing inside. Obviously she was dreaming. Or hallucinating. She didn't believe either of those things for a minute, but any other excuse was far less realistic. Hyperresonance? There hadn't been any sort of reaction, so that was out.

"Paixao. And where exactly is that supposed to be located?" Tear took another look around, feeling incredibly out of place, before returning her attention to the hand-held fontech. Could they really afford to give these away? The contraption appeared to be fairly advanced.

"I certainly won't find any answers simply by standing around," she chided herself. "Perhaps the civilians know something that I'm not currently aware of."

With a sigh she began walking.
