Character(s): Laharl (Flonne eventually maybe ;A;? Vyers?)
Content: orz Guess who disappeared. ;_; So much for hoping to not have to write something like this up any time soon...
Setting: Vyers' apartment
Time: Actually, make it night but after the lights are back.
Warnings: gdit angst.
It was another lazy day. That was about how all their days were recently. Everything had been at a bit of a standstill. Sure, Laharl had gone out a few times and took out a vast number of the hoards of heartless outside, but it didn't really seem to achieve anything. The darkened Paixao was mostly just an annoyance to the Overlord, little more, and when the light finally returned, he didn't really pay much attention to it. Most of his attention was on family related things. Namely his mother.
Trying to keep an eye on her was one reason. Larxene could appear at any moment to cause trouble, so he didn't want to risk her being left to deal with the nobody herself. And the second reason was, well, she was his mother. Lounging on a couch, Laharl could see her through the doorway of the kitchen, cleaning dishes or something.
He still felt terribly awkward around her, but he was oddly happy despite the situation they were in fact in.
Perhaps he'd dozed off briefly, but he drifted from sleep having felt something touching his head.
"Uh?"
Halfway sitting up, he looked up and found his mother standing over him. She just smiled, not saying anything and sat down at the end of the couch, patting the cushion beside her. Scooting up a bit, with her encouragement, he settled his head against the edge of her lap. After a moment he felt her hand smoothing his hair back from his face. Slowly the Overlord relaxed, allowing himself to enjoy this quiet moment with his mother.
He'd nearly drifted back off to sleep when his head dropped to the couch cushion.
Blinking from the sudden jerk, he opened his eyes again to see what gived, and was greeted with nothing. His mother wasn't there anymore. That was weird. She'd been RIGHT there.
"Mom? ...Mom!?" he called, a bad feeling immediately creeping over him as he received no reply.
It was like she'd just disa--
"N-no... NO!"
Slightly horrified, he called out several more times, but no reply came. Sitting up, Laharl reached out to where she'd been sitting only a moment before, resting his hand on the sofa cushion. The spot was still warm. She'd really been right there.
And now she wasn't.
Pain swept through his chest as realization of what had just happened sunk in. She was really gone. Hopefully returned back to where she belonged, far from Larxene's grasp. Which was certainly a good thing. It was for the best! But...
The boy curled up into the warm spot that had been left behind.
But it still hurt.
