Outside the fruitful Vanaheim gate of Paixao, the sky was clear and the scenery was deceptively peaceful. As per usual, a small line of people gathered outside, waiting to get into the walled city. It was business as usual...which made it all the more shocking when a loud clap of thunder rent the sky and a thick bolt of lightening shot down from nowhere to crackle on the ground some yards away. The people in line gasped, some letting out frightened yelps, but none went to investigate. That would just be foolish.
If they had summoned the courage to see what the damage was, they would have immediately seen the dark-skinned woman pressed face down in the dirt, long white hair splayed around her. Her left hand twitched slightly. Suddenly she sat up on her knees, whipping her head back and forth in growing shock.
"This isn't Heaven," Urd muttered to no one in particular, deep purple eyes narrowing. She looked down at herself and sighed in irritation. The front of her elegant dress was covered with dirt and tips of her hair were singed. She scowled and lifted her hand.
From the gate, the people in line could see a green glow increase in brightness where the lightening had struck. They decided it was best to disregard that area altogether. And get inside as soon as possible.
Urd stood up, now wearing a completely different outfit. The sleeveless purple jumpsuit hugged the generous curves of her body, the collar dipping so low that her stomach was visible. The only part of the outfit that wasn't scandalously tight was the lower half of the pants, which widened into baggy comfort. She flipped her long white hair from her shoulders and smiled in satisfaction. Dressed for success, it was time to investigate.
The line at the gate had shortened, but there was still a fairly large group waiting to get in. The man at the end of the line had only a short moment to feel relief that the strange events of the past few minutes were over when he felt a presence behind him. He turned and got an eyeful of bronzed, generous cleavage.
He squeaked, backing up into the person in front of him. Urd floated in place, arms crossed under her chest, smiling sweetly. "Hey, there," she said, low voice melodious. "Can you tell me where this is?" Faced with her heavenly beauty and charm, mortal men always fell at her feet. She'd get what she wanted in no time!
The man muttered something incomprehensible under his breath and backed up more. Now the whole line was aware of Urd's presence and reacted not with awed reverence but unmistakable fear.
"...eh?" Urd's face changed from seductive to confused. She let her bare feet touch the ground and walked forward, her confusion growing as the line parted, as if the people were afraid they'd contact some disease from her. She frowned, annoyed with what she perceived as an insult.
She stalked to the head of the line, forgoing her original plan for good old fashioned aggression. "Oi!" she called out, eyeing the woman in front of the gate. "You! Where is this?" With her hair streamed out behind her like wings and her eyes alight with anger, Urd seemed like a vengeful god on the warpath. It was no surprise the woman backed up a few steps.
"W-welcome to...Paixao," she said timidly, eyes wide as she stared up at the taller woman. "Name...please?"
Urd opened her mouth to yell but paused as she noticed the pile of what seemed to be informational brochures. Raising an eyebrow, she leaned slightly to the side, looking into the domed city. A moment's more silence and she straightened, arms folded. "Urd," she replied flatly.
The woman wrote something down in a log of some sort and turned back to Urd, holding out one of the brochures and...a mini laptop? "What is this?" Urd demanded, tilting her head, the journal floating above her hand.
But apparently, the woman had met her limit and refused to acknowledge Urd, speaking softly to the person next in line. Urd considered making the woman talk but...with the strange city stretched out before her and the weird device to investigate, she let it go. Shrugging, she entered Paixao.
