Naruto wasn't sure what had happened. He had blinked and then suddenly found himself in a completely different scenery. No longer was he running through the forests of the Fire country but instead he was standing in front of a huge gate leading into a city of some sort. Something about it seemed strangely familiar. He didn't know why but right now he had better things to worry about. Like how he'd gotten here in the first place for a start. (And why was he wearing his coat again? He was pretty sure he had lost that in the battle against the fake Pain.)
"Genjutsu?" He muttered to himself. Surely one did not move to an unknown-but-strangely-familiar city in the blink of an eye? That was impossible. It had to be an illusion of some sort.
Luckily he was still in Sage mode and so he could easily pick up presences and---it was all real. The city was full of chakra signals, full of living breathing people. It wasn't a genjutsu. This fact was both unsettling and comforting at once. If it had been a genjutsu he would have had no idea how to deal with it. Not to mention he had gone into the forest alone so no one would have been able to snap him out of it. But this being real was also a problem, he had lost Pain's trail entirely.
Either way, he couldn't stay put here so he took a step forward. Then suddenly the memories hit him like a freight train and it send his head reeling. The images suddenly pouring into his head made him stumble and clutch his head as he waited for it to pass.
"Are you alright, son?"
The voice made Naruto glance up. His gaze meeting that of a strangely dressed young man with blue eyes who was tilting his head at him curiously. Just the sight of this man brought back more memories. Blond hair and blue eyes...
"I remember..." he murmured before the realization really sank in and he straightened up to grab the poor unsuspecting man by the shoulders. "I remember! This is Paixao!" The poor baffled man could only nod as Naruto let go of him and -- after saying a quick word of thanks -- hurried over to the line of people.
Naruto didn't stop there however, he jumped straight over it, landing on the other side in a crouch with a dull thud. Once he got back to his feet he glanced left and right as he tried to remember the way to the hotel. The hotel he had been staying at with...with Itachi. This all seemed like a surreal dream but there should be evidence of his previous stay back at the hotel. Or at least he hoped so.
Naruto wasted no time in rushing off in the direction he suspected it to be, oblivious to all the staring people left in his wake.
