That wasn't supposed to have happened. He had finally reached the Leyline, everyone was still in one piece, they were at least evenly matched with the pirates...and then? That voice had asked "What is your desire?" and he'd been engulfed in a blinding light, just like everyone else. So, where was everyone else? The light on the other side of Gene's closed eyelids began to fade, and he felt like someone had just spit him out. The air was suddenly warmer, the light bareable, and the ground...not there?

Gene appeared out of thin air, about six inches off the ground, decked out for the end of the world. Guns strapped anywhere they would fit, and every caster shell he owned on his person. He was holding his presious gun in one hand as he flailed, falling the short distance hard and landing on his face. The gun didn't even get scuffed. Of the rest of him, though, one couldn't say the same.

It only took a moment before Gene was on his feet, looking around wildly and wondering where the hell he was. He only found a lot of dirt, a statue, and a line of people who didn't look at all like they wanted him dead. Not at all what he'd been expecting. He holstered his caster, and began brushing himself off without letting down his guard to much. Maybe this was all some sort of sadistic trick? One never could be to sure.

Eventually, gene got tired of standing around half on-edge about simply being still alive, and decided that there must be a reason for the line nearby. So, he got in line and eventually made his way to the front. He listned halfway to the monotone speach about where he was, took the palm pilot type thing, and went inside the city.

No one would give him anything more than the time of day, about noonish, and he eventually gave up wandering around and asking the same questions over and over in favor of fussing with the handheld thingamabob.

Eventually, he finally found the journal feature, message board, and a map. He posted some, and then began trying to figure out how to get to the center of town. It was going to be a very long walk.
